Hi All. I'm victor and I am new here. I'm seriously lookinginto retiring to Dumaguete May next year, from Bacolod city. I've never been to Dumaguete city so would appreciate any tips on long term rental housing. I'll be looking for a 1or 2 bedroom apt or house, furnished or semi-furnished, under P10,000 monthly.

If you've never been to Dgte, how can you "seriously be thinking of moving here"?

It's up to you of course, but unless other factors are shoving you this way, you need to come have a look first.

    Hi Victor,

welcome to DI. For the budget you can easy find a nice 1-2 BR apt or small house. you will find some threads here about that topic with several recommendations

All the best for your plans.

I am not sure you will like the comfort with that budget here in Dumaguete City. let us be realistic here, Dumaguete maybe third world but its not that cheapo here.

if you can't find a comfortable apt/house for 10k in Duma you make something totally wrong in the search

    Moving to Dumaguete

    Thanks all for the replay.

Yes, I intend to spend a week or two in Dumaguete come this December. I like the idea of being able to walk out at night in Rizal Blvd for a stroll or for dining out, which is not safely done in some cities.

I cited P10000 or under for rent so if this is too cheapo, I apologize, that is why I posted here so I could get realistic feedbacks and tips on how to start looking for apts in Dumaguete city.

When arriving in Dumaguete city, is there a place or places you could check out for rentals or do you just go around the city looking for "for rent" signs.
I like to do it as fast as possible so I wont have to stay too long in a pension or hotel.

    Thanks all again.....

I have 3 bedrooms, huge sala, huge kitchen, Annex Studio (in my case my music studio) garden w/ Mango papaya and banana trees for 5K
The house is older and was unfurnished.

But 1-2 BR for 5-10k is no problem at all in Duma
Rent a scooter and drive around, drive into streets where you think there can't be anything and you will find great places...

My advice Rent a room for a month or even hotel on a monthly rate so you can get the feel of the city, and don't rush into renting a place until you have had a thorough look around

Thanks all. I'll come for a look see in December to familiarize myself with the city then come back later to seriously look for a rent. Hope I can find a place
    like yours, Rhoody.
