I have two questions maybe someone can help me with.
Firstly, I understand that when a child is born, it must take the mother's maiden name as its middle name, male or female. My question is that if we have a boy and we decide to give him the same first name as mine, then even though my middle name would be different than his, he would have my first name, his mother's maiden name as his middle name, my last name, and would then have to have Jr. at the end, by law, even though the complete name would be different than mine. Is this true?

Secondly, does anyone have any experience with a new born sleeping in an air conditioned bedroom, would it be problematic?
    Thanks

    1) I don't think he would be a Jr. given that his middle name would be different?

    2) Our 3 month old son hates aircon! Too cold and maybe too noisy too.

I find no legal reference to the first in a preliminary search. I think "Jr." is not commonly used here.

Secondly, I don't feel AC is necessarily healthy for anyone, except under certain circumstances where dehumidifying or for other health reasons it may be advised.

Don't put the Moms maiden name anywhere in the kids given name, I did, found out it wasn't necessary and now I feel like an idiot.

And air conditioning in the room where the baby sleeps was never a problem.
Just keep it mild, not mega-cold.

    Names & A/C Effects.

Pat, can't say much about the name, in the UK, the Surname on Your birth Certificate is the Legal one. we can't (males) change this. If your passport says "Davidson" then that is it. Even if you change your name by Deed-poll, the Passport stays the same, of course, the US and PI are so Different to the UK. Any Addition to our name has to be in the front ie: Mr, Sir, Hon (Honourable) Rev (Reverend) and so on. I would just say, that one of my Sponsors was .........., Santiago IV.........,Surname. ( Hope you get my drift here) so he could be Patrick Jnr ................, Surname. Just a thought.

Have to Agree with the A/C replies, Mild and Baby out of fan path if possible. Azon tells me that you should keep an eye on the Little ones Breathing in the Mornings, she read somewhere, that if the A/C is To Cold it can lead to Asthma in Later Years. (Not to worry you but Trisha gets Chesty Still))
I have had a problem posting a link but Google up the question on this issue, there are some good answers and advice. I just put the question and it gave some sites to view. I asked " Air Conditioning and effects on babies"

File the birth records with your home country and when the birth certificate is issued from there, you can correct the name any way you like.
We did that with our daughter and even though the people at the Mayor's office didn't like it, they had to record it as legal fact.
She now is Marcelina Christine O'Dell and is free from her Mother's extra added maiden name and is officially a dual citizen.

True, if you keep it at around 28 degrees celcius and run a small fan on low in the baby's direction, she will be just fine.
Ours suffered a lot of colds due to the drying of her sinuses and such until we wised up.
It also save a bit of electricity due to the compressor not running so much.

Pat, When my daughter was born, my wife wanted to follow her family tradition and our daughter to have her maiden name as her middle name. I found it wasn't a law or rule to do it that way, but Kiana was my choice of a first name and her last name is my family name and her middle name is her other family name. So that is ok by me. Not a single regret and she's also a duel citizen.

I also know several kids without the mothers maiden name in the middle, so as far as I know, it's up to the mom and pop.
