NegOr on Heightened Alert Status. All Resort owners will be called tomorrow for a security breifing at the Capitol.

The Philippine Coast Guard (PCG), the Philippine National Police, and the Armed Forces of the Philippines are on heightened alert following intelligence reports a group of suspected terrorists were spotted in the vicinity of the province of Siquijor earlier this week.

Dumaguete PCG commander Lt Jr Grade Dona Lisa Ramacho said the information was relayed to the Maritime Safety and Security Task Group of Task Force Leon Kilat, and that measures are undertaken in close coordination with other law enforcement units on the ground.

Ramacho has ordered all the seaports in her area of responsibility to establish passenger assistance desks in Negros Oriental including Siquijor island for the safety and security of passengers.

She said additional personnel were also deployed in Apo Island, along with the army and the police in view of the report.

Coastal barangays are also alerted for possible intrusion and to immediately report presence of suspected looking individuals or groups found in their respective areas of jurisdictions.

Ramacho made it clear these are all part of the nationwide implementation of Oplan Ligtas Biyahe for the Lenten season

Who ever said "life is cheap in the Philippines", and "money can move mountains", must have been confused.

The linked article proves the locals have great imaginations, or sense of humor, or only care about the tourist spending habits. Nothing to worry about. What did Alfred E Newman always say “What me worry?”

“Tourists in Bohol are encouraged to stay and continue their vacations because security forces are addressing the incursion, Col. Edgard Arevalo, Armed Forces of the Philippines (AFP) Public Affairs chief, added.”

“At least 4 government forces and five suspected terrorists were killed in the firefight that started at 5 a.m., Tuesday, in Barangay Napo, military officials said.”

However 700 locals do not live in fear, they just move out to evacuation centers. However it is recommended by the Military for the tourist to just stay and continue their vacations… spend their money… lol. “The 700 people in three separate evacuation centers voluntarily evacuated out of fear, Inabanga Mayor Josephine Socorro Jumamoy said.” Now remember it was just voluntary, not fear of death that the locals decided to voluntary evacuated to save their own lives, but tourist... please please have no fear...just continue on and spend you money here... lol. It is good the Tourist spending is being encouraged and appreciated by the government/military now.

PLEASE READ THIS ENCOURAGING MILITARY ADVISORY AGAIN SO YOU DO NOT EVACUATE FROM YOUR TOURIST AGENDA TO SAVE YOUR LIFE.... LOL... remember only 9 have been killed since the fighting started... lol

“Tourists in Bohol are encouraged to stay and continue their vacations because security forces are addressing the incursion, Col. Edgard Arevalo, Armed Forces of the Philippines (AFP) Public Affairs chief, added.”

PS: Although Holy Week is usually quite chaotic and busy, there is still plenty of seats available for tourist wanting to go to Bohol currently.:o o:

Hundreds of Boholanos leave homes due to Abu Sayyaf-AFP clash

Sorry some of the things the appointed politicians say here in the Philippines, just make me want to :vomit:, enjoy the sarcastic humor.

Everything is safe (because the tourism officials and Stake Holders have said do):
"Tourism officials and stake holders yesterday declared the Philippines is a safe place to visit despite adverse travel advertorials issued by several embassies warning of terror attacks in the country". :vomit:
"This was the agreement reached during a meeting between stakeholders and officials led by Tourism Secretary Wanda Teo, amid reports that travelers has started cancelling planned trips to the Philippines."

No security or intelligence officials were allowed at the meeting to cause confusion by differing viewpoints.

Unfortunately the accused tandem motorcycle assassins in Pasay who killed the Japanese business man yesterday did not read the memo. They have profusely apologetic to Secretary Teo for killing the Japanese Business man visiting the Philippines.:o o: She has accepted their apology and everything is good again since the businessman (Seiki Mizuno) in Pasay was not South Korean (Ji Ick Joo) like the business man that the police are accused of killing previously. :o o:

Dave & Imp led a meeting with the cat Stake holders, Imp and Uggy and we have come to agreement that everyone on the forum should send us 1 kilo of fresh fish per month or five cans of "Fancy Feast" Turkey Feast Flavor. This was the agreement reached during a meeting between official stakeholders (Imp and Uggy) by Dave and Imp :o o: and and should not be questioned even if your life may be in jeopardy because your wife/GF wants the fish for the family. We are having another meeting tomorrow to consider other issues which we will try to get the members of the forum to believe.

There will be no more bad news (because we will not let bad news out): "At the same time, Teo urged security officials to be more cautious in issuing statements to the international media regarding the situation in the country. "I will talk to them that was one of the concerns also because of the reports. I think they should be coordinating with us always," Teo Said. :vomit:

You can read these quoted truths in the The Philippines Star, Friday issue 4-21-2017

If the bad news can be restricted, nothing bad will happen in the Philippines.

Note we urge you to deliver the fish fresh or Fancy Feast in environmentally safe plastic bags, two cans per bag. Imp and Uggy are so excited about their new feeling of superiority and entitlement since being appointed to Share-a- Fish Commission by President Duterte. :wideyed: Fish caught by the time honored use of dynamic to catch fish will not be accepted but buried in a local land fill so no one else can eat the fish either.

Sorry some of the things the appointed politicians say here in the Philippines, just make me want to :vomit:, enjoy the humor.

Maybe it is the opposite, they are weak and desperate and they wanted to kidnap/kill as many tourists/foreigners as possible to help with finances, recruiting and respect (from other inbred jungle-monkeys).

Agree...but I live on 'crime free' (lol) Siquijor...so in my memory this was the first time the island was mentioned. I remember the alerts for Negros and Southern Cebu well enough. I'm rationalising atm "it'll be ok, it will happen on the tourist side of the island if at all. I'll be ok, I have a good rep' with the locals, they'll alert me if trouble comes calling etc etc"

bit of a flap on now, am getting reports of a gun battle on Bohol. Locally an unidentified pump boat was found in Lazi Siquijor....it seems the police are evacuating all resorts on the island - at least that's what I am being told. Loads of police driving to and fro outside - might just be a fuss about nothing. I'll keep you posted as things develop.

Not in tablets of stone folks....all I know is that there's tons of cops milling about the island.

They had a warning about southern Cebu not that long ago. A year or two ago the coast guard was on high alert for something similar in the Bacong-Daiun area. I believe the alerts are becoming more frequent in the Negros/Cebu regions. Though I'm not really sure as I have nothing to reference it on prior to 2010. Maybe some of the guys that have been there longer can fill is in on that.

Personally I think the Philippines (along with the rest of the world) needs to take a really hard stance on this muzzy issue.

Sounds like one of the original articles that has just been reworded to include Siquijor.

Lying sacks of sh*t IMO. It has nothing to do with the Oplan Ligtas Biyahe and everything to do with reported sightings of ASG in the region. They are just trying to minimize the economic burden this will cause on the tourism industry.

Government/Police/Military: "P1M reward for information that leads to the capture of ASG in the Visayas!"
Tourist: "Wait, I thought you said you killed all of them in Bohol and everything was safe now."
Government/Police/Military: "Oh, this is just something we do every year around Lent. Don't worry about it."
Tourist: "You put a bounty out for Muslim extremists every year on Lent? That's kind of an odd thing to do."
Government/Police/Military: "STFU and keep spending money!"

The Tourism Industry it big business representing over 10% of the economy. So I am sure it will be protected from negative publicity if possible one way or the other.
Just before Duterte left the country, he and his associates downplayed the American intelligence report of concern:
For an Administration that saw little value in the US intelligence the Philippines sure seemed amazingly responsive, just maybe they believed the intelligence but wanted the rest of us to ignore it. Would they have downplayed the intelligence to protect an P1.4 T industry contribution to the GDP, consequently putting the tourist at risk?

In regards to tourism, I just find it amazing that Duterte continues to make his macho national rants about foreigners/foreign investors, with so little concern. If as little as 20% shrinkage (one in five chose to go elsewhere) occurred in tourism, that would amount to 2% of economic lost which is estimated to grow by 6 to 7 persent this year:
