I don't know - just a mild feeling, nothing substantial. I think "dirty, miserable, cesspool, nothing of interest, should just f*** off and sink into the sea, it's an eyesore" made me think along those lines. Sorry if I grasped the wrong end of the nettle - I am not always good at reading into such mild nuances. :o o:

I live just outside of Sibulan at a nice overlooking location, and while I like my place I 100% agree about Sibulan. I tried to find something to like about it, but there is nothing. I tried going into the big public market, but it's dark and crowded and stinks something awful. But, I think that your comment could also equally apply to a big majority of Dumaguete as well.

At least there are some respectable places to eat, drink and shop in Dumaguete. I don't much care for the vast majority of Dumaguete City but there are some areas that have some appeal.

Dustin, chill dude... BCDWI (big city, deal with it) <grin>

Since we are moving to Bacong next year (2018), i checked the "airport" carefully. I think Talinis will erupt before the airport is built, no matter who owns the land. I've seen the map at bacong municipal hall, and the north south orientation of the runway with the location parallel to national only about 1 km UP (not toward the water) means "it ain't gonna happen." The original estimate for land acquisition was 400 p / sqm. That was 2014, and nothing in that neighborhood is less than 2k or more psm now, the whole thing stretching from close to the northern boundary to close to the south.

For less they could rebuild and extend Sibulan or build between Dauin and Zambo, but the resort owners along the beach probably will kill that. I'm bettin no airport, no matter what anybody says.

One idea was to build the airport in Bayawan. The biggest issue is that the airport will be 2 hours away from Dumaguete.

I can see the sense in that - then fly Bayawan to Sibulan

There is an airstrip a short trip up in the mountains above Basay built by the mining industry and is big enough to handle 727 aircraft. It is slowly eroding.
