They had a bridge. It was fine. The powers that be want a bypass road around downtown Dumaguete. The new bridge is supposed to be a part of that. It will have to be bigger and stronger than the old bridge. I have used many Bailey bridges in my driving career but they are temporary until a new bridge can be built. If they were only going to put up a Bailey they should have left the original bridge alone.
I guess they fixed the Bridge then? Dumaguete diversion road nears completion Read more: Dumaguete diversion road nears completion
I'm going to get a bag of popcorn and sit at the side of the road to watch the first group of sugar cane trucks try to cross the bridge. Is anyone offering odds on their success?
From the article "- A diversion road that will connect the outskirts villages of Junob, Cantil-e and Bajumpandan in Dumaguete City" Now I'm trying to figure it out but is that not the part FROM the broken bridge going south out of the city? If so then they are conveniently ignoring the out-of-commission bridge.
You guess right, The Bridge I was refering to is the one that Phil South built on the new Road and it collapsed, they said that the opposite side of the Road hampered the Build as they did not own the Land but that now seems to have been overcome. The out of commision Bridge South, is another issue that seems to have been swept under the mat
That was only one section of the relief road,a small section where the road narrowed! The bridge that collapsed is no where near that section and there are many more miles to complete before that road will ever be completed. Some sections built are windy 2 lane roads and some sections are 4 lanes. Its the usual lash up from the contractors.
Finally the Ring Road will get finished. I do hope it reliefs some of the traffic problems Dumaguete diversion road nears completion Wednesday, April 26, 2017 DUMAGUETE CITY -- A diversion road that will connect the outskirts villages of Junob, Cantil-e and Bajumpandan in Dumaguete City will soon be completed after two homeowners have agreed to cede a portion of their property in favor of the government. The four-lane Junob-Cantil-e-Bajumpandan diversion road project, while operational already, met a snag in previous years after the homeowners had refused to set back their fences, thus posing a threat to road-users. Mayor Felipe Antonio Remollo, however, made arrangements with the homeowners, allowing the contractor, Phil South, to complete the road, said Dems Rey Demecillo, city information officer, on Wednesday. According to Demecillo, the Mangacop family had agreed to have their fence demolished on Monday after learning that the other homeowner, Oscar and Rosario Yutangco-Torres, had decided to donate a portion of their property to the city. The Torres family, however, asked that the City Government to build a new fence before the old fence, that was jutting out the road, be taken down. The Mangacop family had received payment in 2014 for the property on which their fence sat, with the market value assessed by the City Government, Demecillo explained. Remollo had to supervise the demolition of the fence of the Mangacop family on Monday, with Engineer Perlie Moreno of the Department of Public Works and Highways-Negros Island Region and a Philsouth representative present. The mayor is hopeful that with this development, traffic flow will ease up in the center of the city as the diversion road will provide an alternate route for those travelling to and from Dumaguete. The diversion road is part of a multi-million peso-project that will connect this capital city to the next town, Sibulan, and aims to decongest traffic for those that are headed north but outside of the capital city.
