My wife took our daughter when she was Around 4 years old. The wifey was busy shopping and suddenly noticed she was gone!. In her panic she found a guard and screeched "My Daughter is gone!". The guard immediately stopped anyone from entering or exiting the door until many staff took off running everywhere and found her in the toy section.

Used to drive me crazy how the store reps follow you as you are walking around, as if they are trying to catch you stealing something. I had, at one time, asked a girl to please stop following me, that I wouldn't steal anything. Another time I just left the establishment.

LOL. Lee Plaza sold me a laptop with Windows installed: "Sir you should not update Windows because it is only a copy". Legal? The only laws that are followed are the laws that are enforced and only immediately on the day they are being enforced. Next day is business as usual. I am not complaining, I am having a chuckle at people who think the laws are followed by businesses here,-

This seems to be one of these things we have to accept here .... we are often considered to be potential thieves just by shopping!
But, on the upside, the very strict security helps to reduce losses and so keep prices down.
However, in a fire I think it prudent to just leave and deal with the security people afterwards - IF they are still alive.-

What? They couldn't check your bags and pockets, like when you enter?? That's just crazy. If it were a fire, I am sorry, I would trample them going out the doors!!

You just misunderstand the service quality of the staff there.
They follow you so that they are immediately ready to serve you.

But I'm not so sure if the opposite is better: In Switzerland most time in a shop you find no shop staff except the busy cashier to ask, where something is. And the cashier can not get away from the cash register to help you.

I suspect that the guard had not been trained in a proper procedure for that situation, and did what he thought best. Better than nothing, but the blame probably rests with the management for not training staff (maybe there is no procedure).

I was there too, funny enough was also in the hardware, honestly took it 30 sec.? I saw security guards did not allow people to leave, but 30 sec is okay to me if long time we have a serious problem for sure-

Quite a few years back there was a similar post on here as the fire alarms went off in there and if i remember correctly there was a small fire somewhere in the store.
Same thing again guards would not let anyone out. Im pretty sure if that happen when i was in there the guard would be on the floor!-
