Hi Dex, how are you and welcome..

You joined the Marines and were a combat medic eh?

They sure must have changed things, you used to have to be a Navy HM to serve as a Marine Corpsman.

7th marine rgt 29-palms..hm-8404 medic corpman..i wanted to be an mp..unfortunately at that time..my security clearance fell short(had to be an american citizen)i was just a green card holder w/ a visa..my gt score was high..ended training camp pendleton is was an fmtb at the time..its probably a golf resort now..thanks to a new implementation from the D.O.D...was cross-trained to be a combat medic...the medic in the past didnt carry weapons..with geneva convention treaty medics was considered a white flag(dont shoot)but then again we were going to war with saddam..have no ideal what he was going to throw at us..i do mean that figure of speech and literally...thus the intro of combat medics..(with weapons)..the paper trail was innsannee!!!i didnt know if i was under the corp..or some squid outfit..thanks for asking..i do envy your weather in cali..it sure beats 100 degree temps here in tucson..

just wanted to clarify that you werent a marine as you said you were. you were a navy corpman big difference but thanks for your service as a corpman for us marine grunts. also we are marines and we do not consider us anything else but a marine, not navy, not air force or army. semper fi. mario

    Hello Dex,
Welcome to the site. I have been a member here since 07 but still have made few posts. I'm still busy being a firefighter/paramedic here in California...currently in nursing school as well.
I hope to be at least a semi-permanent expat there in the next couple of years, realistically.
Also: Thank you very much for your service, good luck

thanks mario..thanks jim..as well for your sacrifice and service.but have you heard or read the news lately..the military is laying off people...thats right laying off people from army to the coast guard..i heard from my fellow co-workers who's husbands and wives..station here at davis monthan..airforce base..it voluteers first..then commission officers..so if someone has 2 years left under the belt to retire i guess the military will pay you to leave early..so our 8.5% employement rate will drastically go to 10 at least that was the forecast..mario are you still in the corp? if you heard anything different hit me up>>jimf..are you from back home..(dumaguete) or anywhere in the philippines?...take care guys..
