    Curious!

 Hi Tina, Jack P here, Welcome to DI, sorry this is a little late but been a Funny Week End. I am curious to know what made you decide to return to Dgte for Grad School? We hear so many Stories about the opportunities in the US and the Education is second to non. I commend you on the decision but just wonder what made you decide to return home? Are you returning to the US after Grad, If so, I will then Wonder if the Qualification will stand you in good Stead there? As a father of a youngster, I am interested in a younger persons reasoning and thinking about education.
Hope this is not too presumptuous of me on this issue.
Have a Great time here on DI and Hope your time back in Dgte is successful.

A reasonable question Jack. I will be studying marine biology through Silliman's graduate program this coming second semester. Originally, in the States, I attended University of Tampa and majored in marine science/biology my freshmen year. I then transferred to University of Maryland, College park hoping to continue my marine biology undergraduate degree. However, it was changed so that it is offered to potential graduate students. Hence, I graduated with a bachelor of science in general biology. My initial interest was to study tropical environments, particularly the conservation of coral reefs. Although my preferred field of study changed, I learned plenty working with restoring a threatened species (Acipenser oxyrhinchus oxyrhinchus) for two years after graduating college. Now, I'm ready to pursue my initial interest by attending Silliman University because: it has a widely recognized marine biology program (one of the top in the country), offers a great working environment especially with different experts in the field, and conducts numerous research on marine conservation. The Philippines also have the most marine diversity in the world. There are multiple reasons for my school choice and I don't think one should limit oneself to attending school in the States.
If you research the many individuals who worked in or graduated from Silliman, some are now teaching in different US universities.
