I was thinking of this statement in the Philippine constitution:

"SECTION 8. Notwithstanding the provisions of Section 7 of this Article, a natural-born citizen of the Philippines who has lost his Philippine citizenship may be a transferee of private lands, subject to limitations provided by law."

Somehow I got the impression that you must be a natural-born citizen to own land here. I would certainly get a legal opinion if that was my reason for becoming a Philippine citizen.

Ok the content is a bit confusing. Is there an explanation available of why males seems to be disallowed to have dual citizenship?

I got the ECC same day in Cebu at the end of 2015, but it took 2-3 hours; the office was busy. Still I was able to have a meal (Japanese restaurant downstairs from BI) and get to Ceres terminal in time for last bus to ferry via Maayo to Sibulan. Home by midnight. (Dumaguete to Cebu was by air but the new air schedule does not work for this.)

 

Yes, I have had the same experience every time BUT one time the lady in front of me got stuck. They told her she would have to come back in 3 days due to some discrepancy and they could not issue the ECC today. She cried and whined about wanting to see her dying grandmother who was in hospital and gonna die any minute and the guy at the BI did not blink an eye, just told her to come back in 3 days . . . Next!
