Hi all. I know this is Dumaguete forum not Cebu, but want to pass this along to those of us always on the prowl for good food.

Last Sunday, I went to a new store called S&R membership store on north reclamation road Mandaue City.
It is a Costco knock off. There is a P700 membership fee to join.
I only had a few minutes, so I checked out the Meat department, booze, Deli and bakery only.
In the meat department there is imported Australian and USDA prime meats. I bought 3 USDA rib steaks for P80 each, the cut was a little thin but tender and tasty. A saw whole Rib eye sections good for around 20 1 inch steaks for P4,000. There is a big selection of New York and prime cuts. Also in the Deli section there is a large selection of sausages including American style breakfast sausage, all beef hot dogs, salami, pepperoni, Hungarian and much more. Even frozen waffles and a huge selection of cheese.

In the huge booze department I don't know very many prices, except here a bottle of Jack Daniels is around P1,000 at Lee Plaza, and there it was P530.
The bakery section has 2 or 3 isles of everything I could think of. The bread's seem expensive to me, I large loaf around P130.

Inside there is a food court, I noticed a huge Slice of pizza that looked good for P99.
Anyone hungry now? I hope this is good information.
    Ron

When I lived in Pampanga I used to go to S&R quite often. Some things just a little pricey while other things outrageous pricing!

It's more of a store for when you just gotta have that special imported something and are willing to pay for it. The Australian Rib-eye was 1200P a kilo.

    Cheers,
    Mark

Yes this is a Dumaguete site and NOT Cagayan De Oro, but Mae-Mae and I had breakfast at Bo's Coffee again today. There are supposed to be several all over the Philippines.
I had French toast, 2 scrambled eggs and 4 slices of great bacon with brewed by the cup coffee. Mae-Mae had a 2 egg omlet with Hungarian sausage and cheese, toast and hot coco. Total price was 350 pesos and I left a 100 peso tip.
As always, free Wi-Fi and great service.
Sort of like a Starbucks knock-off but with a full service kitchen.
Look around and see if there is one in your city.

OnMyWay - 1200 pesos for a kilo of rib eye? That's about $6.50 USD a pound. That's really not a bad price. That's about the same as the US when I left there.

for those traveling in Cebu, Manila and moany other cities you can shop at S&R and bring things here to Dumaguete.

The Shopping in Cebu is good (I think BETTER than S&R) at many grocery stores: The Market at Ayala Mall and the Rustans at ayala has a lot of good options at better pricing than S&R. I buy the big frozen trays of Stouffers Lasagna there. That's good stuff and cost prohibitive to make here in the PI due to the price of cheese.
