Why would any single young dude want to spend much time, if any, in Dumaguete, if one is not into (outdoor) diving? The Why Not girls are used to older foreigners paying them so free p*ssy is doubtful, and what else are you going to do here? Cheap living, perhaps, but other than whoring and beer drinking, not much to do here.
PatO, you'd be surprised at the amount of free p*ssy in Dumaguete. Even the whores in why not will do it for free now and again. They just have to WANT to screw you.
Can't speak for other people, but for me 1) Love the look of the promenade right next to the ocean 2) University Town (30,000+ students) 3) Not many young gringos / tourists 4) 100K+ population 5) Everything is relatively central 6) Close to nice beaches, lakes, waterfalls, and volcanoes 7) Cheap 8) Diving Ive pulled hookers all over the world for free, including Manila (MBC to be exact). I am not worried about that. As Wrye83 pointed out above, the hookers have to simply be attracted to you and want to screw you. Not that I would even be targeting them. Will focus as I normally do on meeting girls in malls, markets, universities, internet, reg bars and clubs. I will simply relax and enjoy my time in Dumaguete. Take my scooter to the beach, meet girls and locals, play basketball, do some studying, some partying, some outdoor activities, ect.
Dash: you should also look up Naga City in Bicol. It's a cleaner college city about the same size as Dumaguete. The central hub in Bicol so you actually have a much larger population during the day and weekends. SM, Robinson and Ayala malls. Decent night life on the weekends and many smaller bars have a good crowd during the week. Most things are centralized on Magsaysay Rd and around the park. Local food there is good. Many volcanoes, waterfalls and mountain areas to visit. Beach is a bit of a drive through. Lagazpi has the most symmetrical volcano in the world. It is my place of choice when I need to get away from the foreigners and tourists. Been there 4 times and only seen 4 foreigners. Girls (really everyone there) are friendly to foreigners and want to talk to improve their english, and give something new a try . I enjoy billiards so worth mentioning the game of choice there is 9 ball instead 8 like in most places in PI. They have a very nice sports bar there that has 8 or so billiards table.
Dash, you might be interested in the vlog of someone who goes by the YouTube account name "gentooman19" (aka his website name www. soyummykaya.com). He visited Angeles City, then Dumaguete (was initially worried about lack of nightlife but ended up staying a month), a night or two in Bacolod (don't think he liked it much), before heading to Davao City. He made some interesting videos of everyday (and night) life, renting an apartment & bike, hitting the bars and restos, lots of interaction with the locals. Just a heads up, he puts some pinup or bikini still shots at the end of the videos, which often end up as the YouTube thumbnail, but they mostly have nothing to do with the Dumaguete videos themselves - just good marketing, I guess www.soyummykaya.com - YouTube
Redhorse, ive seen all his videos and actually asked him a few questions online. Type in Dumaguete in youtube and its impossible to miss his vids and channel. I love some of those random night parties he went to. He has a nice site going and the pictures are def for marketing purposes lol. I actually wanna do something similar in Dumaguete and Cebu.
Dash, cool, glad you've seen it. Your plan did sound very similar to his. Hope you enjoy your stay! BTW, in case you have not seen it, another good vlog from a young American film student who studied in Mactan (he's now continuing his studies in Great Britain). Has a lot of his Cebu, Mactan, Visayas adventures: The Burris Film Life - YouTube
Thanks for the vid recommendations. God, this is gonna feel like an eternity until I finish my contract in Korea. After experiencing Philippines, Korea feels like a cruel life sentence. fml
