Sorry about the late post but I was unable to log in. I know Dave at Dumaguete Studio Apartments. My wife and I stayed there awhile about 3 years ago. He is an honest guy and you would have gotten your deposit back promptly. That is a moot point as you have already made other arrangements for your lodging. Just wanted you to know the guy is OK. Manila hotel security guards, in certain neighborhoods at least, hold a visiting girl's i.d. Without one, they might not let her pass, even escorted by the hotel guest. The i.d. is returned to her when she departs, after a phone call to the guest to determine that he and his possessions are intact. In my experience they can distinguish nice from naughty; nice girls pass without challenge. (Or maybe they have identified me as nice.) The procedure would not be amiss in Dumaguete.
