You say you don't see this in your barangay when walking around, maybe some of us live in barangays that this obesity thing can be seen. Barangays have different socioeconomic demographics, in fact many barangays seem to have the lines drawn by this very thing. This shouldn't be a surprise to anyone as it is human nature to surround themselves with people of similar socioeconomic status.
One thing I have definitely noticed in the last 15 years being here (living in different barangays, provinces and islands) is that I see far more obese locals today than I did when I first came here. Seeing an obese beggar was something you would have rarely seen 15 years ago, today it is not all that uncommon.
This thread is about obesity and it is a growing problem no matter if you want to/can see it or not. (Didn't you start this thread by stating you have seen this yourself? I'm not sure about that but I think you did. Not sure where this 180 came from.)
Edit: never mind, just went back to look. I see what you are saying now.

You can have both issues happening simultaneously. Both are horrible for health outcomes. One problem doesn't negate another problem and we can, as a society, address more than one problem at a time.

Thanks, Just my taste but gravy has to be eaten right from the skillet as it is a perfect mixture of fat and dairy and does not age well... same for biscuits... but thanks just the same

Biscuits and gravy? Biscuits are not the same but you can make them here, just wish they had some real buttermilk. Gravy is simple, butter and flour for a rue, then add milk and thicken. What you use for meat is up to you, but you can also do a nice SOS on toast with some lean ground beef.

I make my own. It is pretty simple to make. It consists of eggs, condensed milk, milk (I've left milk out and it turned out fine) and sugar. Most recipes call for vanilla extract but I prefer to add cinnamon and nutmeg, which I highly suggest trying. A rice cooker is my preferred method for steaming it.
I have also substituted the sugar for caramel (real caramel, not simply heating up sugar that most recipes call for). Pretty good but my caramel turned out pretty chewy. Would have been excellent if I could figure out how to make it more of a liquid than a solid.-

I gained weight! From about 72kg to 86kg - and Filipino neighbours said I did not look healthy when I arrived but looked better after I put on weight! In other words, I was getting fatter like them.
