You did not answer my question as to your belief, that is fine. You also make fun of and mock the replies and the original poster in the way you made sure you spelled analogy. That is fine with those of us that believe. We are aware of what we will face. It is not a 'hobby', it is a belief and of faith, something I doubt you can understand. I imagine you don't believe in the Bible being the word of God. You will say it was written by men, rather than knowing it was simply taken down by men, much the same an assistant takes down a letter from the boss. The question is not why would a loving God sentence anyone to hell, it is why would someone choose hell over a loving God. God punishes those who are disobedient, same as you would punish your children. God gave us free will, it is our choice on which way to go, you obviously chose the wide road, I prefer the narrow one with all of its obstacles. Yes, we are called the Sheep, and we enjoy the title, it will be what separates us from the goats in the end. No need to reply, unless you want to know how to understand the truth. But as always, God Bless and have a nice day.
You are exactly right I'm all ears go ahead and explain it to me (except the part about punishing children) thats how you live your life beating kids I will listen to all the proof you have, or send along a link or two, then maybe you can justify all the sexual abuse perpetrated by the men born in gods image, and you can explain too how the pope and the other paedos, tried to hide it for generations, who closed their doors in times of famine, buried their heads at times of war.............you go right ahead and send me all the information that god exists
If it gives peace and happiness then good on them, The world is a difficult place to exist and I will not begrudge anyone happiness...
It's a BELIEF - so no proof is needed. I think many people agree that there could be some form of higher power in the Universe(s) - surely humans cannot be at the top!!! But which PARTS of a belief system are believed is dependent on the individual - some may take it purely as a form of support and others may subscribe to the notion of a God full of goodness who makes the World a better place. For me, recent events, including the remembrance of the end of a war full of atrocity that killed millions, tends to make it difficult for me to believe in any God's goodness. So, although I cannot be persuaded otherwise to adjust my own views, I just have to accept what others wish to believe. Isn't that true for many other facets of life?
Suggestion to God: Cut out the Earth part and take every living thing direct to the next "better ... eternal life". Saves a lot of suffering (including tooth extraction!).
This commonly used line doesn't do much to persuade many. Seems quite passive aggressive and unwelcoming. I think Jesus had it right with the showing (all those miracles he performed) and not doing much of the telling (he speaks relatively few words in the story he is the main character in). It's a shame that God gave up on that method of getting people to believe (and to be willing to kill yourself in a horribly painful way really says something about how desperately you want people to believe in you) in him 2,000 years ago. However, I'm not sure why he decided to just send one middle eastern looking version of his son/clone/himself to the middle east to run around the desert to do that stuff. (BTW, does God have DNA? If so how does that work with impregnating a woman to have yourself? Did Jesus have half of his own DNA and half of his mother's? Or was there no egg fertilized in the woman? ) Surely he could have made multiple clones to spread the word on all the inhabited continents to spare those millions of people who had never heard of him or the Bible before their death from being punished. Maybe there was a grandfather clause in their since it took many hundreds or over a thousand years for a Bible to ever made it to many people on Earth? Being eternal, omnipresent, omnipotent and omniscient I'm sure it wouldn't have been (or *wouldn't be* remember he is omnipresent and omnipotent, he has as infinite mulligans to get it right) much of a bother and many more would believe if his actions, plan and best selling novel weren't so dang convoluted and contradictory. He had to have seen every bad act his creations were going to make long before he ever created life. I just don't see how an omnipotent, omniscience and omnipresent creator is compatible with free will. He either knows everything, is everywhere (including past present and future) and can do anything or he can't...or perhaps he is lazy and can choose to turn on/off those powers any time he likes and just wing it? No idea, just doesn't make sense to me.
Very true. It doesn't make any sense. There are too many unanswered questions, seeming contradictions, unbelievable stories, etc. Many of these things cannot be explained with logic and wisdom. That is why there is faith. That is the only way to accept some of the seemingly foolish things. Logic, wisdom and study can lead to faith but many things will never be understood or reasoned out by man, no matter how intelligent one may be. They can only be believed through faith. I know many don't believe anything in the Bible, but the Bible says that God will make foolishness of man's wisdom, and He does.
Guy's strange how this topic has turned away from the O/P. Just a couple of facts from the Bible....Jesus Christ was born a Jew, he made his first sermon according to the New Testament, in the temple at the age of twelve. One of the recorded miracles was during his latter years, he died at thirty three years, was at the Marriage feast in Cana, where he change the water into wine! However those that walk by faith don't need proof and this debate will serve no purpose to be continued. respectfully JB
So how does a person have faith in a particular God if they all follow the same rules of: *Doesn't make any sense. *There are too many unanswered questions, seeming contradictions, unbelievable stories, etc. *Many of these things cannot be explained with logic and wisdom. If Faith is based on belief with no substance (except the negatives you outlined) then why have Faith in God 'A' rather than God 'B'?
