I have noticed lately that the terms of reference towards myself have changed , my wife now has the notion to refer to me as old man , not o'l man as in boyfriend , hubby etc. , but pure and simple just old man . As she is not being slanderous or obnoxious in her tone I quietly accept the reference that has been appointed to me , the problem is that my 8 year old daughter is a parrot , and has on occasion , said "come on old man" we're ready to go , or hurry up old man , never in a disrespectful tone , and more-so in a lighthearted way . But the real problem for me with all of this is the acceptance of the reality of it all.(getting old). My wife has suggested hair dye , which has been met with total resistance from myself . As I am in the salt and pepper stage I am fine with my hair colour the way it is , and will be fine with it being all grey as well . When I met my wife she was 23 years old and I was 37 , so this is where I am heading , after being together for 11 or 12 years , is she catching up to me , or am I getting further away . I thought that 14 or 15 years difference between us was ok , we could keep a balance so to speak . What I have been waking up to is that getting old is ok as long as you keep yourself healthy , and I know that I am more fit than my wife , so maybe she is catching up to me. Any suggestions nasty or nice are welcome Tony
Im 67...Ive had a beard since I was 22. Even then there was a patch of white hair under my chin. Now its spread all over my head and face..well pretty much anyways. I was in the USA for two months and let let it grow out as I was shaping it up short and so I got what I refer to as *scruffy*..badly needed a haircut as well.. Told my wife I was going to come back and apply for a santa job this xmas in Dumaguete. Yeah Yeah Ed ..get to point. The point is I decided that looking all white I did look more like a fraile old man and target. This alone caused me to put some color in my chin and mustache areas of my face.. the hair be damned..Got a nice solar panel area these days on top but havent gone to naming my existing hair and mourning their passing.. Hey.. do what makes you happy with yourself. The additional aches and pains of just getting up in the morning and moving around bother me so much more than disappearing gray/white hair growth!
Yep this new thread is in timing with a few remarks I've had just recently ! Likewise, my wife has made a few comments about my looking older. Whichever way it's put can be offensive. Being a gentleman as I am, I dont point out that I still fit into the suit I married her in ten year's ago. Regarding ways of looking younger, after much persuasion, I succumb to allowing her to cut and dye my hair! This has been the case the last five years or so. My youngest daughter after the initial shock of seeing her dad this way, now makes a point if I take her for shopping, of letting everyone know I'm her Dad. Hmmmmm should I be pleased or not. If you can't be someone else, be yourself. :D and be happy.
It's all Mathematical really! We are in the Land where some Ladies, will tell us, Age doesn't matter and Age is just a number. So looking at it Mathematically. My Wife, is 48 4+8=12 now,I am,66 6+6= 12 yeaaaaaaaaah we are the same age, guys and gals.:p Go on, you know, you want to do it. some, might even end up, with a Wife/Husband Mathematically, older than you Goodnight All, (Daughter needs the keyboard and Printer) JP
The only problem I have with JP's formula is that I am now a teenager , but my wife is younger than my 8 year old daughter
I had better be quick here; 5+3 = 8 2+9= 11 But come Tuesday 3+0 = 3 so I had better Crow it up while I can! :D hehe I, along with several other friends (them) from British descent, have a white streak in the front of their hair, mine is not so noticeable because I shave the sides (Mohawk) so I have a mix of Brown and Grey on top, dark Brown at the back of my hair (LONG Hair) and Peppered Goatee Beard and White Moustache. I have no idea what the white streak part is about, and the 3 of us are in no way related... o.O I asked asawa if she would like if I dyed my hair, Mo and Goatee and she strongly objected, saying she likes it how it is, or is this her way of looking eternally young beside me? o.O Personally I believe in the old adage; Women get old, Men age gracefully ^_^ hehe
I was born old, so I have no problems. I believe I was 12 the first time I was called sir and they meant it.
I guess it depends if you grow up or grow old. Not much I can do about growing old but I certainly can refuse to grow up.
Betting on a Horse, can be just, the same!! Sorry matey, some you Win, some you Lose. If we won them all, we would all be rich men. but...........! JP Morning All.:( (DOH! raining Again.) [Now I have to stay indoors]
