Ive been doing hard time on the nut farm,it's one of the few types of jobs that are temporary loose schedule and paid by how much you bring in and not by the hour...the legendary workers on the farm here are pilipino workers who some how out produce everyone else..little 60 yr old pilipino lady "Carmen" beats all us huge american guys at it...I'm glad i got a 400 dollar paycheck this week where she gets a 600 dollar just by bringing in more pounds of nuts every day...I tell em I'm a pilipino migrant worker.(cause at the end of nut season i migrate back to dumaguete)but my american accent and mediocre productivity dont convince the boss..Well at least I sweat more than Carmen and i haul the filled nut sacks in better than she can... Mac nuts grow here in hawaii and are one of the more expensive nuts sold in the USA...Australia grows em and a few other countries too...I'm saving every penny of this works pay while i live off my army veterans benefits...Yeah Carmen out picks a younger man who was trained in the US army by special forces officers...Pilipina hero on an American Nut Farm...

    Hey Tunji,
I lived on Oahu for 10 years and had a Kona coffee business , since you are picking Mac nuts, are you on the big island where the big plantations are?

I am on the big Island where all the land is and all the plantations are here.40acres of mac nuts where I am..I am a disheveled nut,a mac nut is the original busted nut and at the end of a good day I grab onto my hefty nutsacs with a sense of pride....I have an acre of land here i own and I have a few mac nut trees ,some coffee bushes and chocolate trees, bananas in hawaii are the best(appple bananas very sweet and slow to rot,I wish i could bring a graft of that banana to pilipines)I'v got peruvian jungle fruit(naranjillo like a tomato crossed with a kiwi crossed with an orange,it has fuzzy leaves the size of elephant ears..) pinaapple, sugarcane, passionfruit,Jaboticaba(high vitamin C cherry like amazon jungle fruit,,,Any way these are plants I put in my yard that i aquired off of other peoples farms,,,Big Island is Farm country and its the pilipina farm workers who really make it harvest,,,Wild pigs here are so plenty that we could feed every house in dumaguete one full lechon with just the pigs at my work site...well ive gotta get some rest today and back to grabing my nuts tommorrow all through to next saturday,, the more i do it the better it feels...
