conducted yesterday at the Bureau of Jail Management and Penology facility in Barangay Bajumpandan, Dumaguete City, after jail guards recovered two sachets of prohibited drugs from a visitor going out of the premises recently.
Recovered during the surprise jail inspection were assorted bladed weapons, blades, improvised knives, improvised tooters, clips, more than 100 lighters, used tinfoil, empty sachets with residues, a handful of cellphones, and other gadgets.
An operative of the Special Operations Group said that in one cell, they found a small plastic container with several plastic sachets soaked in water, possibly to do away with evidences.
In the kitchen, the searching team recovered several cell phones and other gadgets in a sack of rice, as well as bladed weapons underneath a “pugon (clay stove)”.
“Blue books” were also recovered, which contain the names of illegal drug personalities, including payable and collectible amounts. One operative was surprised to see a photograph of his official as well as pictures of other police officers in a detention cell of known drug personalities and high value targets.
The inspection was initiated by the police provincial command, headed by Senior Supt. Nestor Tiempo, with more than 60 operatives from the Negros Oriental Police Provincial Office, Provincial Intelligence Branch, Special Operations Group, Provincial Anti-Illegal Drugs Special Operations Task Group, local Philippine Drug Enforcement Agency, Provincial Public Safety Company, and the SWAT with a K-9 dog.
