This whole Ukraine-Russia thing stinks. I don't see anything good coming from it. The West is messing with Russia and vice versa. Both sides have valid arguments IMO.
To me it is like my new pup, it wants to take on the big Dogs and yelps loudly when it realizes it hurts to get snapped at.
I can see Russia's position with Annexing Crimea, they already had a large Military base there including Naval base that they wanted to protect, and also most of the people were pro Russia to begin with, BUT, I just can't see any excuse at all for Russia pushing into Ukraine, Putin was just asking for trouble doing that, if he just sat pat after Crimea it all would have passed over and everyone would have got nice and sociable together on more Vodka eventually.:D Now Putin is hurting, badly, and he will have to do something MORE controversial to keep his people behind him, what are his options ?
Yeah, that one crossed my mind also, and I hope Putin is not that crazy !!!!!! However he is ex KGB, so anything can happen.
The West has grown increasingly hostile towards Russia. Russia, from what I see from their domestic policies, is a very conservative state. Liberal Europe and the America want desperately to push their agenda throughout the world. Russia wants none of it and are willing, and capable, to put their foot down and say p*ss off. The UN dumped a lot of money into Ukraine to push them away from Russia, an economic ally. The West is trying to economically isolate Russia. What would the US have done if Russia had been trying to do the same thing? (We would dump more money into it to try to stop it of course, but if we weren't capable to out bribe them what do you think would happen if a perceived hostile nation payed for an ally directly on our border? I guarantee that we would extend our borders out just a tad bit further.) The US/West sees this: ....and they don't like it. The Russians also see this and that's why they love Putin, he is bringing their country back in to super power territory. As the wars in the Middle East/South West Asia are drawing down, the military-industrial complex needs something. What is better for their industry than another cold war? I hear tons of propaganda from both sides and it looks like a cold war is where it's headed.....at least we better hope it's a cold war. To compare Russia to Nazi Germany is a fallacy, it's an attempt to appeal to emotions. The same as when Russia compares the current Ukrainian government to Nazi Germany. When has either side committed genocide? (I'm not talking about Soviet Russia or the Colonial/Early Americas. Stalin did, sure, but so did the US with the mass extermination and relocation of Natives Americans. Neither one has anything to do with politics today. And to bring up the KGB like it's a factor, they aren't around anymore.....let's not forget that the CIA is actually still around and still running around killing people all willy nilly. How will history remember the US and the CIA? We are a state that sponsors terrorism, we secretly torture/bomb/kill enemies, we have a base where we detain political prisoners indefinitely without proper evidence and we don't give them their day in court. Do you think the Russian people knew what the KGB was doing? I'm sure they looked much like the average American. The CIA is the exact same as the KGB.) I think what people should be worried about is who steps up once Putin, an old man (even though he doesn't look it), dies.
Sure, the CIA is no better than the KGB, granted, they are just as bad as each other, I agree, however, if you have a choice which do you want to be on your side,?
