If you're a renter, as hard as it may be I might suggest moving. ( which is probably what the police will advise you to do). Post like this makes me thankful my biggest problem is the noise from the resort next door till 2-3am in the morning on weekends and holidays. but a reality!?!? Loads of concrete walls here with razor wire or broken jagged bottle edges built in. Pretty standard for all windows to be covered in bars here as well. Yards with dogs tied to a tree with a very short rope is secondary security as well. Most of this would be left for slums and ghetto properties in my home country. It's just normal here....
