Health & Wellness Philhealth for an expat?

Ok, so after much discussion I believe and many phone calls to HO (Philhealth) Manila. Azons' Company Secretary had this to tell us ( I say us, as he has done this for me on our behalf so we can know)
The rules are such, Unified Dependency will not change, that is, those Married and here on a 13a or other such Visa that makes us Permanent Residents ( Operative word is Legally Married) will still be a dependent of our Spouse and enjoy the benefits of the scheme ( as per Law) but where anyone now covered by a Live in Wife will not, However should a Foreigner become a member they can claim for others as Listed on the Policy, Tourists on 9a temporary or otherwise must take out a policy of their own.
This is the state of Play as I am told at 6.15pm this evening
So G % G's the Emphasis is Married and a Permanent Resident to continue your Philhealth Dependency Cover.
He was told that the Circular was actually bady written in Parts and omitted some vital facts that may have led to the confusion it obviously has.
Let's hope that all this is just not Hogwash but I am inclined to believe the issue given to whom it was relayed to

Initially I thought foreigners are getting screwed over but when I thought about I think it may be because the majority of foreigners coming here are older and with age comes illnesss (i.e. my stroke) and thus more hospitalization than the younger majority of locals. We are lucky to get some insurance coverage even at a higher rate.

 

No, as far as I know, it is an inpatient thing but things seem to be moving that way with charges on certain illnesses being different than just admitted to hospital ie different illnesses will cost different amounts and the time you need to be in Hospital. it is a minefield

 

Great news (if true), Jack! Now I have to wonder whether the Balikbayan priviledge would also be considered or whether I need to change my strategy and get a 13A. Decisions...

 

From what I understand only existing Accounts will be Honoured the emphasis was on Permanent residence so really the way to go is 13a or other permanent visa type Coming on a BB shows you are in and out of the country and to my mind this is what they are saying. People come and take advantage of a cheap Insurance meant for Filipinos' and their family yet choose not to live here. As I have said before it is a Minefield of their making but what's new

 

As from the 1st July 2017, expats will no longer be covered under their spouses Philhealth Plan which are taken out or renewed after that date, this also applies to all other expats whom have the present low premium Philhealth cover. The new rates will be P15,000 0r P17,000 depending on which visa you hold. My understanding, is that your spouse and dependants ( < 21 ) would be covered under your plan.If you do not have Philhealth at the moment and are pondering, I would suggest you get it now, as you will have a year before you pay the higher rate. think i will stay British and keep my Nationality, that way if I get sick I will be covered By my N.H.S which I still contribute, and If i'm too sick to travel then tough luck. I'm here on vacation before anyone gives me a wrist burn.
