⌛ Philippine tourism

looks like the present increase we have seen over the last couple of years particularly by our Korean "friends" can be almsot solely attributed to the tsunami off phuket with a lot of koreans switching from thailand to the Phils.
What bad luck the tsunami was.

 

I have every sympathy for the people of indo, sri lanka and India
I have not one scrap for the thais who lost their tourist resorts.
Thailand has butchered its environment for the fast tourist buck for years
and many of these resorts were built illegally on national park land
IE PP and Khao Lak, and if they had protected their reefs and mangroves a bit better they would have had more protection but apart from which
if they hadn't built these hotels illegally then many people would still be alive.
Its a tragedy that their tourist model can be seen as a success
and even more unfortunate that their tourism model is spreading to other parts fo asia, that was the point i was trying to make and looks like a lot of the idiots who go to thailand instead went to the phils instead.
What tourism has done to thailand should never be allowed to happen anywhere again.
I strongly belive that the tsunami was natures way of getting back at Thailand. They pay no heed to the environment and nature so nature
will pay no heed to them. Where Thailand was concernewd th only tradgedy was that it displaced some attention to other nicer parts like the Phils.
I can guarantee that the same mistakes will be made in the Phils
with greed and bad taste overriding the environment.
I was reading that the saudis are building a resort on Panglao now.
since when have they been interested in diving?
I again repeat that if yopu like the phils make the most of it
the drums of big tourist bucks have started and thailand will repeat its ugly self once again.
