    Dear President Trump,

Please cancel our Military Agreement with the Philippines and leave them to deal with the Chinese invasion from the north and the Muslim invasion from the south.

Send this &$%@** that we do not need the Philippines as much as they need the USA.

    F.O. Duturde

And what do you think would happen to Americans in the Philippines if Trump made such an idiotic decision? You really think there wouldn't be repercussions from Malacanang?

I hesitate to get into this disjointed "discussion," but I'd like to point out that the Muslims arrived in Mindanao around the 1400's and successfully administered the entire southern Philippines for 500 years until the US gave the land and the governments to "Christians" imported from Luzon in the 1910's and 1920's. The Spanish pretty much ignored Mindanao, and never got a good foothold... The current problems in Mindanao are mostly a result of that upheaval. Wikipedia has several good "short histories" on the subject.

This is a personal view (of course) and you may dislike it or not, at your whim: In a country which has respect for its elected leader, I do not feel it is the right of foreigners to show such disrespect. Let the people decide on policy, as far as is possible, at the ballot box.

Also, negative, rude and disrespectful comments about any senior politician (and leaders of other organisations) may serve only to make life more difficult for your fellow expats - and every expat here should be on the lookout for the welfare of every one of us.

I woulsd have thought it is abundently clear that the US wants access to these international waters just the same as any other country would want. It is in the Philippines interests to secure the waters around their own country to prevent them being cut off from the rest of the world by a world power that sees gain in doing that. Its a matter of national security and the idea of Trump telling the Philippines to go it alone is just really stupid. Dont want to get too politacal here and I hope the regulators of this site can mediate the input here to see that a fair representation of opinion prevails. Best of luck with that Difficult task.

Me: May, Might, May Not, Might Not. Thank you for your perspective none the less. No one of importance ever reads our poo anyway; nor value what foreigners say. It is mainly for foreigners local information and amusement.
Me: But I agree one hundred percent. When in Rome do as the Romans do. However, I am neither in Rome nor the Philippines at this time. Surely you aren't suggesting that I forfeit my 1st amendment rights in my own country.

you may not be aware that the tall bell towers associated with catholic churches along the coast of negros were to provide an early warning system against muslim raiders from sulu for the purpose of taking slaves back during the early 19th century (per wikipedia on the subject). the philippines has been officially targeted for a jihad. muslims are invading in one form or another nearly every country on the planet and by 2050 are expected to be the dominant world religeon. the christian post reports nearly 200 beheadings and other executions of other "christians" in southern mindanao by muslim terriorists since 2000. a few years back a friend of a friend and his wife were killed by a muslim terriorist bomb in davo airport, three days after i passed through. this is the most dangerous movement for humanity on the planet.

It has been my experience that idiotic decision, more often than not, come from idiots. I suggest that we all put 2 & 2 to gather. If it walks like an idiot, talks like an idiot, looks like an idiot.... We all know the saying.
Now I have to ask what ever happened to the posting rule about political posting of this nature? Is there such a rule on this chat board? By the looks of this thread there is not.
