Pat, I haven’t seen anything published that Dumaguete is on full lockdown yet. I would guess that it might happen soon though.

The expanded travel ban has been - unexpanded!
"The Philippines on Saturday, March 14, modified a blanket travel ban earlier imposed on countries with confirmed localized transmissions of the novel coronavirus, restricting it to travelers coming from Iran and Italy.
This backtracks from President Rodrigo Duterte’s earlier announcement that the Philippines would be banning travelers coming from all countries with confirmed localized transmissions of the novel coronavirus.
Duterte's statement caused confusion among countries and prompted some Philippine embassies to issue advisories on the sweeping restriction."

If no flights and no ferries and code red, sort of like a lockdown. I assume mail and supplies will still arrive!

Since Dumaguete airport is not an international airport, to get on Negros will still be a mission impossible with bans for seaports on Cebu island, Manilla and Mindanao same when your intercontinental flight will arrive somewhere else like Davao, Iliilo and so on.

I'm pretty lost on this. Here in Dumaguete are passenger ferries still operating at all? Such as Dumaguete-Siquijor and Dumaguete-Dipolog? Or are we essentially trapped on Negros now? I keep hearing filipino's saying we're all on *lockdown* but can't find anything legit saying that or explaining what *lockdown* means since Duterte already pretty much said his definition wasn't a *ban* besides on Metro Manila (sorta).

    I don't know.
It seems to be in reverse. The surrounding provinces have restricted travel from Negros Oriental. The Negros Oriental Provincial government has not restricted travel. It is Cebu that will not accept passengers from Negros. Which is why you do not hear any news from the local Provincial government. Maayo shipping has stated that they will suspend service except for cargo and emergencies.

A friend told me that we aren’t on lockdown, but in a “community quarantine.” (Fk knows what that means)

I know Cebu isn’t accepting anyone from Negros, but I don’t know if Siquijor and Dipolog have followed suit. We are allowed to go out, but highly encouraged to stay at home. There is also no curfew as of this time.

I really believe that local authorities are handling this well...actually, quite awesome. But people the people escaping quarantine are awesomely selfish.

I do wish they’d restrict travelers from coming in. Dumaguete received a lot of travelers from Manila during the two day mass exodus. I have to admit, that worries me. The hospitals struggled with one patient and we all know how that went. I don’t know how they’ll cope once they all come pouring in.
