Measles outbreak. I have been hearing of lots of people in my neighborhood with a disease locally called Dipdap. My healthy 18 year old step son has been feeling bad with a fever and diarrhea. Today he developed a rash on his face and body. My wife took him to SMC, where the doctor immediately diagnosed it as Measles, Aka Dipdap. I think I had the vaccine when I was young and I know my daughter also at around 2 years old. After doing some research I just learned that children should have a second dose around 6 to 12 years old. Some of this information differs depending witch site I go to. So take care it is highly contagious to un-protected people, from what I read most people born before 1957 are probably not at risk because most likely they already had it and can only get it once. My son was prescribed lot's of medicine and if not better must be admitted in 3 days. worst case could lead to blindness, brain damage and the worst thing that could happen. Ron
I was just reading that measles is becoming common again in the US. I wonder if parents are getting careless with their childs immunization and the schools are not checking close enough. Possibly schools can't ask anymore because it may reveal illegal alien status? Shrug.
Temporary Protected Status (TPS) for Filipinos to the US Does the importation of measles and killing recently of the dive shop owner in Cebu effect the political issues surrounding the US granting a Temporary Protected Status (TPS) recently requested for the Philippines? “The Migrant Heritage Commission (MHC), a Washington DC-based non-profit organization, appealed to US President Barack H. Obama, who is visiting Manila tomorrow, to designate the Philippines as a Temporary Protected Status (TPS) country to provide temporary immigration relief to thousands of Filipinos living in America. In an open letter sent to the US Chief Executive dated April 25, 2014, the MHC pointed out the importance of granting the TPS because their (Filipino immigrants) who return to the Philippines at this time “cannot be adequately handled by the Philippine government faced with the herculean tasks of recovering from super-typhoon “Yolanda” (Haiyan), other recent calamities and a looming territorial dispute and security issue with an assertive China.” The open letter was signed by the three-man MHC executive directors, namely, Arnedo S. Valera Esquire, Grace Valera-Jaramillo and Jesse Gatchalian. They expressed the hope that President Obama will announce the granting of TPS during his two-day visit to Manila on April 28-29.”
To the 2 Dave's in the last 2 post's. The first one blah blah blah stupid, I just wanted to inform people that didn't know what Dipdap was, just like me. so I don't see spam. I see all your post's and I know you are a good guy. Dave 2. I also know you are a good guy, but Obama has nothing to do with my son with Measles and no way he will help. The Philippines is the number one country hosting Measles with over 20,000 reported or suspected cases and I doubt my son is one in the count. So I'm sorry I'm a little sensitive right now watching my son go through hell, and hope this gets to people with children like me..
My mistake it is locally called Tipdap, anyway all's well now with my son although it was a very strong and serious case. It took 2 antibiotics a mouth spray, colloidal silver and honey to get him back on his feet faster than the Doctor predicted. Ron
