The paradox is the police said they through rocks and some shots first. Reminds me of the 'Gulf of Tonkin' incident.

I'm not saying I'm against giving aid as I feel the government should aid in times like this within reason.

However I don't see how these people can blame the government as if its the governments fault. The government doesn't control the weather and the dry season here has become well known. This isn't just an issue this year but an issue that has been growing for quite a few years so not like they didn't have warning that this is NOT the time to be putting their life savings down in a rice crop during a dry season. So it would be *charitable* for the government to help but its NOT the job of the government to fix someones failures when sh*t goes bad.

Same thing for business. What about a restaurant that hasn't been getting as much traffic as they need to stay profitable because its just to hot, brownouts happen, school is out for the summer so families are vacationing at the beach and whatnot instead of going to restaurants to eat. Should the government come in during that season and give the owner a bag of cash because sh*t just isn't working out right then? Of course not. Not much different here. Now how many of these farmers installed very deep wells to supply their own water needs? Not much different then saying a restaurant have aircon or a generator.

Generally my first thought about stories like this is "I wasn't there, I have no idea what really happened or why, does the reporter have an agenda and spinning the story"

I believe half of what I read and am suspicious of the other half so I have no reason to get riled up over something I have no clue about.

I think some one at some point in History will send a letter out to the Philippines Government stating that #1 Philippines is a 3rd world country. They will take a Century or 2 to comprehend that, and at some point one person may wake up with the thought "Hey... let's fix things"
