[DOUBLEPOST=1421287175,1421286931][/DOUBLEPOST]This Pope has a very interesting background, as a young man he apparently, so it is reported, was a night cub bouncer -

I sure the Pope has read this bible passage:

    Luke 9:47-48
I doubt that the government officials in Manila would agree with what their prophet said though. I find it absolutely amazing that the government officials openly admit to locking these children up simply because the Pope is coming. (and they did it for Obama's visit as well)

Rosalinda Orobia from the Pasay District Social Welfare Department says,

I would take a bet that the Pope's security knows how to deal with beggars.

I'm sure he will see all the hell holes in Manila and worst areas of layte which was levelled by the typhoon last year.
But realistically he will only see the new shacks people have been given and there ain't many of them either.
If I were the pope one question I would ask is "what happened to the millions and millions of dollars the west gave to the philippines to rebuild the place! I bet there would be many red faces if it were asked.

Pope made a statement relative to the Charlie Hebdo attack in Paris. He says that there is absolutely no reason any person can kill another person in the name of God, regardless of how much they have been offended.

    Fair comment too.

He then said, perhaps the free world regarding the freedom of speech and expression could be more careful and not take it too far by unnecessarily degrading any Religion which may offend people of that Religion. Interesting point maybe. ?

My question is: I wonder what all the Christians would think if Charlie Hebdo or whoever, started to run down and degrade Jesus Christ, and God, or the Pope even, in writing and cartoons, would that offend all the Christians ?

Or, do people just have to grin and bear it , suck it up, and get over it ? - lol -:smuggrin::devilish:

I am not a religious person, so it does not bother me either way, I am just trying to see it from all sides.

It's not all the Muslims that are offended, just a minority.

Fair enough if that is so, but, maybe more Muslims are offended, but do not act on it ? How would we know ?

Obviously the radical crazy ones will react to just about anything, they don't even need an excuse -

Street children always have been taken from the streets whenever a foreign dignitary visit the PH.
Nowadays they have detaining centers too but before it was jail only. I know this from a Dutch friend in Cebu, a Catholic priest who cared for this street kids. He found foster homes for a lot of them and send them to Don Bosco school for a vocation. Great Guy!!
Marcos had walls build in front of slums along the route from the airport. I'm not sure or they still exist (have not been in Manila since 2002) but noticed them in 1982.

Being in Tacloban the Pope will wonder maybe what is done with the Vatcans generous donation" of $50,000 or was it $500,000??
Do's not matter anyhow it did not even make a splash.
