Pope slams capitalism as 'new tyranny'

Some good reading there...thanks. Many different viewpoints, many different ideas. IMHO, there isn't much that could be done about the overpopulation. To curb growth, all governments would have to pass laws that would allow them to decide who can have a child and who can't. I don't see that happening. Population growth would need to go selectively negative by about 10% per year for the next ten years to get the population down below 2.5B. If that didn't start immediately, then the reduction percentage would need to be higher. But, if that could happen, we would see a completely different, much more sustainable, much higher standard of living, and a much higher quality of life. So, how are we going to tell everyone that only 9 out of 10 couples on earth can have a baby and they can only have one?

 

I think people should not even be able to have a kid until they can show proper financial means to care for it.
A reversible sterilization upon age of procreation would seem to be most preferable.
Or a time release contraceptive implant....

World Overpopulation/ Dominance,

The reason I don't watch Futuristic films anymore, is those that I though were fantasy, very often became reality and that frightens the life out of me!
Do I worry for myself no, but I worry for my children and grandchildren and their future......JB

 

Well a few different countries have tried to dominate in Afghanistan for instance and not much has been dominated. Conspiracy theory's here and there have been touted but not much real evidence of that. Some will still stock up on the Gold and tinned goods and Guns and ammo I do hope they have some positive aspects with their lives and thinking also.. We are mostly doing ok with our over populated earth and a lot of good gets done by rich and poor alike. Lets hope for the best and try to do good whatever our religious beliefs or not.
Remember looking up at those stars and those galaxy's that we cannot yet see we are looking back in time and our times are very short. 70K ish years for us bigger brained Humanoids so far. 2K Christianity.. 1.7K ish Islam 1.6K ish Buddhism ... 4 - 7k ish Hinduismn ..200 ish Years electricity...1951 First Colour Television... 1989 WWW.....1990 First commercial mobile phone.....Me I am wondering how to travel faster than light Ha Ha I am here but would love to be there..
