Jack...it is funny for me to see that hip/tail wag from the pups. They have so many looks from our Dalmatian but when they come up to you the attitude is definitely the Belgian Malinois. Always best to let our lovely wives work out logistics when the best time to visit, towards the end of the school year so there seems to be a number of performances this weekend. Shawn
Our Belgian went into heat a few days ago so we are just trying to keep the Dalmatian away from her, which is keeping her inside and him outside. Obviously she has to do her business but am surprised at how they are just determined to work something. Even with the security door closed he is outside wining as well as clawing at some screens (wife was pissed but I can fix them). The only way they can hook up is if someone leaves the door open and the kids know better right now. We don't want more pups from them, ready to go on a clearance sale from their first pups...not kidding, the wife wants the pups to find new homes ASAP. Shawn
We've been keeping the Belgian in the house and our Dalmatian outside...our son left the front security unlocked the other day and she pushed her way out. It was less than 2 minutes as we were putting things together for a BBQ, before he went back to get something else from the house. Long story short, they were already locked up. Both me and Cherry were pissed off and have our fingers crossed that the dogs being locked up only once is not enough to get her pregnant, but she may be. We really did not want any more pups, especially back to back. We still have 5 pups, though 3 may be on their way to new homes shortly. I made up some flyers and the wife put a bunch in some trikes here in Tanjay, so that has gotten some interest. We are really looking at getting the pups to a good home that can take care of them, not concerned about compensation. As I've said, they have all shots to include rabies so a big dog that wants to be part of the family and be taken care of. If anyone is interested let me know. Shawn
Here are some pics taken today of our pups, they are getting pretty big. I have one boy going to a new home tomorrow so that leaves us with 3 girls and 1 boy left. We've had a number of folks contact us recently but not sure if they were too committed so these guys are still around. I personally am leaning towards keeping the last male pup as I just really enjoy him; all the pups are great but he just takes being a good dog to a whole new level. Being around the dogs and pups everyday I can see what the pups have taken on either looks or temperament and the pups have the Belgian temperament, just so very family oriented and want so much to be around us no matter what we happen to be doing (which can be a pain when I am bent down to drive a screw or nail and a pup decides it is a good time for a hug). One thing I am really impressed with is how they interact with the 2 little local dogs we got from our neighbor, they play a lot but seem to know to keep it at a decent level when dealing with pups that are so much smaller. Our Belgian does not seem to play as often now compared to the Dalmatian but they are both pretty good with all the pups without getting too rough. Obviously there is a pecking order with Chili being the top dog, but you would be surprised to see how tough our little runt can be. Shawn
Wrye, ( Dustin) If so please make sure you can ship it back, Dustin these are magnificent Animals and Are so loyal and loving
I would not ship myself back there, yet one of my pups...if you could give one of my remaining girls a good home in the Philippines we could definitely work something out. These pups constantly surprise me...they love mango, both sour and sweet, banana is a huge treat as well as carrots and the local bell peppers. I even have one that will take a chili pepper (we cook them whole most of the time as the kids don't like the spice and it lets them pick them out). They are great dogs and are now 5 months old, no issues with socialization as they are family dogs and have been raised around small kids and their family. They are almost the same size as their father (Dalmatian) so they still have a bit of growing to do, if you want a behaved and loving dog for the family as well as a determent, both breeds are known for their protection instincts, give me a yell. Shawn
Have someone coming by either today or Sunday to pick up a girl; there is also an attorney in town with one and he called my wife this morning that he may want the last one for his daughter in Cebu. He likes the size, temperament as well as they do have a big bark. It definitely took longer to find them all homes, but the homes they went should take care of them well. Now I have my fingers crossed that our Belgian is not pregnant from one coupling... Shawn
The last 2 girls went to a family from Bayawan City today, they are dog lovers and actually have an older Belgian. It is funny as it was the guy's brother who is working in Abu Dhabi that saw a listing I made on a Filipino site and let them know about the dogs. They actually flew in this morning from Manila with a Shiu Tzu they picked up there. I had never heard of Bayawan before but they say it took 3 hours to get there from here, I looked at a map provided by my friend Google and it looks like quite a haul. They've texted and called the wife numerous times throughout the day to let us know how the pups were doing and have actually asked us to come visit them and the pups. One of the girls did not want to go, and was really freaking out. My wife felt so bad (another reason for all the texts back and forth) but is better now as they said the pups are exploring their new home and seem to be adjusting so far. They were just over 5 months old so this has been their only home, fortunately they went out as a pair so their adjustment should be easier. All our pups were part of the family and it was hard to see them go, but you just can't keep them all. We are happy that they have all gone to good homes, the wife is in touch with most of the folks that have a pup and me and Jack talk here and there about their pup. It is really starting to look like our Belgian is pregnant (that Dalmatian must have some good swimmers) so we may be going through this again in a few months. Really sucks as you get so attached to the pups. We have our Belgian, Dalmatian, 2 local pups from a neighbor and I kept one of the male pups; still a lot of dogs but the house seems a bit empty tonight. Shawn
