MANILA – Expect rainy weather ahead as a new typhoon approaches the country this week and enhances the southwest monsoon (habagat), weather bureau PAGASA said Monday. PAGASA weather forecaster Meno Mendoza said typhoon ''Soudelor'' (international name) will enter the Philippine area of responsibility this Wednesday and enhance the southwest monsoon. The typhoon, which will be named Hanna once it enters PAR, will move towards Taiwan and avoid making a landfall in the Philippines, Mendoza said. Soudelor was packing maximum sustained winds of 194 kilometers per hour and gusts of 240 kph as of 2 a.m. Monday, according to the Joint Typhoon Warning Center. Meanwhile, PAGASA said the intertropical convergence zone is currently affecting Palawan and Mindanao Stronger habagat as typhoon nears PH | ABS-CBN News
