September, a record high of deaths in CV prisons

Cebu - The Bureau of Jail Management and Penology (BJMP) in Central Visayas (CV) reports that from January to September this year, 60 prisoners died due to heart attack, high blood pressure and tuberculosis.

According to the BJMP two prisoners died in January, in March and April respectively six, four in May, in July eight, in August fourteen and twenty died in September.

The BJMP has for each prisoner a budget of only 50 PHP available daily, and another 5 PHP for medicines.

Maybe they don't have a death penalty any longer but there is no guarantee that you will live long in prison. I don't think I could survive on 50 pesos worth of food a day for very long.
