Welcome to the group Tunji. Plenty of info here to get you started on the right foot. I served in the Old Guard, ceremonial duties for JFK.

    Old guard

Hey kenny old school alumni. You know last year a local hawaiian artist painted a 6 foot by 6 foot picture of JFK's fallen leaders captains horse for veterans day and of course the horse always being led by an oldguard caison sentinel, was captioned with an old guard soldier and I being the only guy in small town from old guard, she modeled soldiers features after me. The hawaii senators who are veterans and head of veterans oversight committee on capital hill had it sent to smithsonians museum for u.s.army history. I wasn't even born then and never even met a JFK era Old guard....Until now. They surprised me with that one and I never knew the artist to this day.She had it published in all the major local papers and hung in city hall before taken to the smithsonian. The artist has some other paintings at CNN headquarter and other prominent places.Oh a digruntled philippino american veteran tried to kill me with his truck over all this publicity and now I'm here in the philippines meeting a man who best fit the position in the painting drawing JFK's fallen leader horse. Thanks man and hope to meet you.

You're on the big island and want to spend much of the year in Dumaguete? Good luck mate but you're living in one of the nicest spots on the planet already. Used to spend a bit of time up Kohala way every opportunity when I lived on Oahu - had a girlfriend there at the time. Nice people and stunning scenery. Anyway, all the best with your travels! And thank you for your service soldier.

Or maybe because most of the people in Siquijor Island are balikbayans and having American citizenship, and specifically invading Hawaii.
