As everybody knows, I like peace, but I will not pussyfoot around an issue that bothers me, we are all grown up I hope...
As for what I will(as long as Larry let's me)post in the future, I will not apologize, until now I have and will in the future post about developments around the World, it's essential that everyone becomes aware that this are EXTRAORDINARY times, you can keep on ignoring the fact but it's happening nevertheless...

Nothing wrong with posting political threads IMO (regardless if I find the view misguided), but when the horse is dead there is no sense to continue beating it.

The only exception may be if it's roadkill, then further tenderizing may be necessary. O-xI

Simple Mind , if you have ever read any of my posts , you have an indication of the character behind them , suggestion ; make your posts readable and user friendly by condensing relevant information to an informative paragraph (because we know it will be a paste) with a personal note at the end from yourself , you know that I am not petulant or arrogant , I am just suggesting this so that you are taken seriously by the forum readers , if too much overloaded diatribe is placed in your post people just move on and don't stop to absorb any of it , so it just becomes pointless , just something to consider .

    Regards Tony

I think along with the political threads needing to be password protected so should a section dedicated to members opinions on what the forum should be about.

The rest of the diatribe I can read and blow-off, but this part does tick me off. What are you suggesting? Cleansing opposing opinions?

    Sure can:

Like my suggestion on putting a password on the political section to keep those posts off of the "What's New" section (because new members shouldn't be looking at political debates on a site about Dumaguete, and for other members who wish not to see it there), I would suggest there be a section on the forum for "Forum Issues and Personal Opinions" that would be for these types of threads. These threads griping about politics, how certain users post and opinions on what the forum should be about has it's place and, IMO, that place should not be where visitors, who came looking for information on Dumaguete, can see. Not saying it shouldn't be there, it should just be there for people who have contributed at least a little bit to the forum. If possible I would set it to where only members with more than 50 posts could view such threads. (Not to exclude new members but more so they could get a feel for the forum and form their own opinions before and see other member's opinions.)

Correct me if I am wrong, but wasn't a similar concept known as the Barrio(which I did not participate in) was tried and collapsed under it's own weight due to members being uncivil to eachother?. I prefer your suggestion earlier to either ignore, block or report misuse of the forum.

In my completely fictional vision, forum rules would still apply to any password protected section. Wouldn't be a free-for-all as the Barrio was. Passwords wouldn't be private, they would be publicly posted under the section description. If one would wish to participate they would need to do nothing more than enter in the password that was available for all to see. All forum rules would be adhered too. The only purpose to it would be to keep the thread news feed clean of off topic threads, not to exclude anyone from participating or contributing.....you know, because the forum is a business as well as a community.
