Exactly and the proof in in an earlier post "One guy told me my signal was weak at -80 db and a signal closer to -95 db would be better". Ummm, no Mr Engineer Installer, -95 db is not better than -80db, -80db is pretty friggin awesome while -95db is about average for my signal and is merely adequate.

That doesn't matter because they aren't buying unlimited bandwidth from pldt. Like all of the others they buy X amount of bandwidth and then oversell massively. PLDT is the only one trying to provide what they sell in full right now. Globe upped itself somewhat over the last 2 years since Duterte's threats but have been on a downward trend again since the San Miguel / Telstra deal fell through.

That's a good site to get a more accurate broader result. I do wish they showed as well speed to the US as that is where many major things are hosted (including many major games). However you'll just dumbstruck the internet techs from the isp's here trying to show them that and explain. They are trained only on speedtest and really don't understand jack. If you watch though you'll see though that the connection anyplace outside of SE Asia is utterly horrible.

Still I challenge those of you guys doing speed tests to run a test at 6-9pm range and see how well it comes out. Use http://www.dslreports.com/speedtest then post here.

I have Fil-Products Cable (6Mbps) and when I line up Torrents before going to bed I usually wake up to 30+ Movies in my Download Folder... No complaints here apart from when the occasional Blackout in Zamboanguita puts Internet and TV offline for a while or some pages will not open due to my IP Address being Blocked.

I hear that every time an internet service person comes to my house.
Usually I tell them to check my signal strength before I'll make a decision. One guy told me my signal was weak at -80 db and a signal closer to -95 db would be better; needless to say there was no addition to the mast.
On some modems there is a data page that will show signal strength, signal to noise ratio and the number of error corrections and a bunch of other information. All that is useful information.
When I used to use a BlackBerry it worked fine with a signal strength of -104 db.

Someone from Smart told me my internet was slow because my Modem was only 50 Mbps and I should upgrade to a 150 Mbps model. All I know is the slowest part of the communication network is the limiting factor, like a chain is only as strong as the weakest link.

Before you shell out any pesos for a taller mast you need to know if you really need one.

Had this discussion last night.. "You get what you pay for." For those that need more, the PLDT home fibre NORMALLY runs 53mbps / 45 mbps, per speedtest.net, but then it's P2899..
Not available everywhere, curious if anyone has ever gotten neighbors together and successfully needled PLDT to run the fibre...???

I think I read somewhere before where you wrote about what I guess were just initial hassles and having to phone them - it seems that is all fine now.

I have found you can't get both "best" and "cheap" together. I rely on the internet a lot to maintain work collaboration with the US, and Globe was unusable for me. I now use a service called "airLink" and it has been great. I get 20Meg speed, unlimited usage, and great reliability. They need to install a tall mast on your property to put up their antenna, they did not charge me for this, but it may be necessary that you own your property. You can pay for the speed that you need, but it is not cheap compared to other services. I pay 4999 for my 20Meg unlimited service, but I think you can go down to as low as 5Meg. I am usually getting well over 20Meg speed, and in almost a year it has not gone down once (except for brown out). On a couple of days there have been issues with my speed, and when I contact them they are very responsive and fix it right away. So if your internet usage is important to you, you might take a look at airLink.

Well, you already know where you are moving. My best suggestion since I don't live in (near) Bantayan is that after you move, ask some neighbors what works best. Ask a lot of people, because some people will tell you that what they have is the best, simply because that is what they have.
