When i left Dumaguete last April, about the whole network of streets in and around Dumaguete where under construction. Northroad, Southroad, between Ceres and Southroad, the area around PNB etc.
Soon i'll be back in Dumaguete and i would like to know where they are working now, or is it easear to name the streets where no roadworks are going on?

Unfortunately, all of those roads are STILL under construction. You will be shocked at the lack of progress made in the intervening 5 months, despite hundreds of workers and millions of pesos spent. I assume these contractors must be paid on a daily basis...if so, I expect they will never finish and will stop when all the money is gone.

    Mabuhay!

The list where they are working NOW will be very short
Some days they are working here, and some days there.
Today they were working (regarding the road between Robinson and Banilad) at ONE (1) small piece of that still not finished road.
So I guess next year it will be ready there :D What a joke !!
Also in Bacong they are starting now to widen a part of the road where we had the problem with the flooding in January.
But......when ready......it will be great....for at least one year (because they don't use at many places any iron bars in the concrete.)

But it will be a lot better than 2 years ago, let's not deny that.

I heard the contractors got lazy when you left, so I guess it will be just about the same construction upon your return. be back soon so they will work faster hehe....:D

progress depends on the materials and the payment from the government to the contractor. by the way...... these projects have timeline. and i guess the contractor are maximizing the time they could finish to have maximum payment from the government..... for the information of all that these roads can be used if there are some chemicals used to quicken the curing process the this concrete. either pozzolan or portland...

    cheers!!!!

    its really sad...
but do i have to say welcome in the Philippines???? :(
i think i still have to say it not because that i am 100% proud of my country...its to remind that its is like this here in my country:o its because its really happening here and for sure in other country too... that the government works so slow even with budget and time limits they don't follow it... and its so sad that each time there is a appointment or meeting with the time schedule Filipino time is always existing :(...:o and very popular:o

It all comes down to ones work ethic. Strive for efficiency, and quality work or just think of making $$ now and not in the future.

well, I think that is perfect business -thinking...

the roads will not last longer than 2 years, than it's time to start again with the construction ...

    Just a F.Y.I. note:
I understand that most forum members seem to live in Duma or close by (Valencia) and southwards...so naturally the main road south is of great importance.
Pero, I live off the so-called "North" Road - up in DreAMLANd (as our Mayor likes to call it....LOL!).
As much as I also complain about the roads, in actualality, the contractors working on the North Road ARE doing pretty good considering what equipment they have......or don't have.
We have had to drive into Duma weekly over the last several weeks and each time we have observed a noticable amount of new concrete being laid/finished - and more lanes opened up. But I do agree with all you folks within the city - it seems things are progressing backwards......

There is no such thing as progressing backwards my friend. It is just the procedure of construction and safety is the issue here.
