According to the 711 manager in Valencia the Valencia PNP had ordered them to remove alcohol from the shelves...and there has in fact been no alcohol on the shelves for the past 2-3 days at that location. If this is due to the current pandemic or the religious holidays remains unknown, at least to me. Are there sari2x stores selling alcohol still? I have no idea but I did notice that the one near my place no longer had a bottle sitting on display. I suppose they could just be sold out though.

The title of the thread and the OP make no mention of the cause of the booze being unavailable. It was a member sharing what their SO had directly told them and they presented that information here for further inquiry and conversation. Every single comment in this thread is very clearly opinions, speculation, light hearted humor or criticism about alcohol being taken off the shelves...only an idiot would confuse anything in this thread as ”news".

As for having something in writing: I don't need anything in writing to know that the information is, at the very least, plausible in other locations as I have been into the store here and seen with my own two eyes that the shelves that once proudly displayed that wonderful nectar are now disgracefully packed with countless cans of Pringles and their knockoff competitors.

I have recently given several warnings about accusing, or even implying, members here of spreading "fake" news. This is NOT fake news. I'm placing you in quarantine for 30 days for suggesting a crime has taken place in this thread.

Anyone else throwing around those two words together had better do so with great caution, put their biases aside and have pretty compelling evidence to prove their accusation true.

Maliciously spreading false and misleading news (with the intent being key) is a crime in the Philippines and people have been arrested for it. Using the term "fake news", regardless of what you think it means or how you use the phrase in your day to day (and likely very limited) vocabulary, will grab my attention the same as the words "assault", "theft", "fraud" and "defamation" does, especially if a poster here is being accused of it...because it is a crime.

    Remember:
    • Just because you don't like what is being said or haven't heard or seen it for yourself does NOT make it "fake news".
    • What happens in one Purok/Barangay/City/Municipality/Province/Country does not have to happen everywhere else for it to be true.
    • Do not confuse opinion, criticism, speculation, satire, parody, questions or inquiries as "news"...no matter how badly Fox, CNN, MSNBC, etc try to convince you otherwise.

The new order today is strictly no alcohol consumption outdoors. I wonder if that means sales and distribution is on again. I cannot imagine San Miguel Corp. staying quiet about their lost revenue.

Perhaps to stop men forming drinking groups and to prevent crazy booze-fueled people thinking about aggressive responses to authority. But who knows for sure.

But don't they make booze here from tree sap and probably other methods? The danger with home-made spirits is that if done incorrectly they are poisonous.

Thanks for the heads up. Why on earth they add a liquor ban to this already f*cked up situation is beyond me. Also, was that announced anywhere?
