Local Government Secretary Mar Roxas urged Negros officials Monday night to reach a consensus on the future location of the Negros Island Region (NIR) regional center. Roxas, who was at the opening of the 22 nd Panaad sa Negros Festival in Bacolod City Monday, announced that he has favorably endorsed the creation of the NIR to President Benigno Aquino. Negros officials are hoping the President will issue an executive order creating the NIR before the end of 2015. Roxas said the immediate creation of the NIR can be done at minimal cost by using existing national government agency offices in Bacolod and Dumaguete as regional offices at the start.
