you certainly get better info from each peanut vender at the boulevard than from the MC Do morning freak-show

It'd seem that Rhoody and The Dane are violating their own Disclaimer at the bottom of the page..?

why?it is my opinion... and not only mine... if you don't like , a very easy solution...

however, there are indeed creatures who move to a tropical country to do nothing else than sitting at one of the stinkiest corner of the City to meet at a shitty fastfood place trying to safe a few peso with free coffee, doing nothing else than spreading a lot of false statements and complainting under the guidance of Kojabba... of course some local ladies trying to hit the jackpot there too.

It is a good place, I go there once in a while, walk into the frontdoor, have a good laugh and walk out on the other side. Always nice to see how I don't wanna end up

Personally, we prefer hanging out at Casablanca. There are at times friendly gentlemen and ladies from many different countries including locals. You can sit outside for al fresco dining or drinks or chill out inside with aircon.

There are plenty of sober expats along the boulevard too, and plenty more at various places around and outside of the city.

Yes, agreed "Boss" Dane - It IS very sad, IF to "Hang Out" (and do what:?... guzzle down beers and drinks and ogle the ladies?) is what the gentleman making the comment was/is interested in doing with his wife..
I do NOT think that's what he and his wife cared to do...just my PO, of course.

    He simply said:

My post was to suggest someplace where he could "meet expats" - nothing more, nothing less: with no pro or con about what my PO is of McDo's...I'm certain they will have their own opinion, just as Rhoody does.

My I suggest you review your own web forum here? Take a look at the "Nightlife" section. Take a survey of what places on the boulevard most guys talk about...and , aside of the few 'nice' ones (like PatO mentioned) evaluate what the majority of comments are about which particular joints along the boulevard.
"Why Not" comes to mind....naw - that's not one you meant, was it? However, in fairness to the boulevard, "Annebelle's" might be a good place...when folks are there.

Every so often, someone on the forum mentions McDonalds, and, to be sure, you get the snide asides about freaks, gossips, chronic complainers, freeloaders, lechers, etc. For those of us who’ve been here awhile, and enjoy stopping by occasionally to enjoy a breakfast and perhaps a few cups of coffee and discourse with fellow expats, remarks like the above are to be expected, but I wonder about newcomers who may accept the negative comments as gospel. For a different point of view, let me introduce you to a few of the “freaks” I often encounter either inside or outside of McDonalds (These are not their real names). There’s Steve, a former professional football player and builder, an extremely friendly, mostly upbeat American. He has been with his girlfriend for several years and has informally adopted her daughter. From all I can tell, he’s a great dad, and I’m proud to consider him a good friend. Then there’s Frank, a Brit/American, a retired accountant, soft spoken, always interesting to chat with. He is married, adopted his wife’s son and has taken on a relative’s child whom he adores. Not too bad a “freak”. There’s George, a South African, very bright, well informed, owns a farm and raises all kinds of vegetables, always willing to share his wealth of knowledge about plants, life in the Philippines and world events. Not to mention James, a former builder and well loved high school football coach; or Joe, a machinist who rose to the top of his profession and is married to a lovely Filipina with several children. He always has a joke or two to share, rarely complains. I could go on. Of course, as with any gathering of foreigners, you’ll find your share of negative gripers, losers, ones that make you ashamed to be a long-nose associate, but in general, I’ve met plenty of longtimers and newcomers at McDonalds, only a few of whom I’d consider freaks or the other names some on this forum would like to call them. And yes, one can find a store of valuable information about many things local, assuming you’re bright enough to sort out fact from bola-bola.

McDonalds is for those that enjoy 12 ounce brewed coffee for 30Pesos with refills. They enjoy aircon and free wifi. And, it's quite possibly the largest group of expats that seem to meet each morning. They don't serve beer so perhaps that's an issue for some that prefer to begin drinking in the morning.

Down on the boulevard you can have a 4 ounce pour of brewed coffee for 50-60P, sitting outside in the heat and no wifi.

Matter of personal choice really. I like value and can appreciate everyone is different. Hope to see you at MacDonalds or on the Boulevard someday. I frequent both and won't pass judgement on you for visiting Macdo or the Boulevard.

Sure, Rhoody - you must be right.

But it does seem that some/more members may disagree - myself included. May I refer you to member johncarson 's OP of yesterday? Very nice , informative post about McDo's....and agreeing that one certainly can meet very helpful and nice expats there.
And THAT is only what the original questioner was inquiring about: where can he meet expat's to discuss info about Dumaguete. Didn't say a thing about food, quality, etc. Myself, I think that the 'regular' alcoholic drink and beer guzzler's sitting along the boulevard, girl looking may be a far more disdainful and not give a fair assessment. But your and Dane's personal opinions are helpful as well.
