CAGAYAN DE ORO CITY -- Five areas in various parts of the country are now being mapped by the Tourism Infrastructure Enterprises Zone Authority (Tieza) for the establishment of new tourism economic zones by 2016. The locations are Mt. Samat in Bataan, San Vicente in Palawan, a still undisclosed municipality in Bohol, the old Davao City airport, and the vicinity of the new Laguindingan International Airport in Misamis Oriental. Tieza Chief Operations Officer Mark T. Lapid said all these have been “calendared under the proposed 2016 budget” but the amount has yet to be finalized. “Once these are approved by the Tieza board as part of its 2016 master plan, then that is the time that we will invite potential investors,” said Mr. Lapid who was in the city last Monday to inspect potential locations near the Laguindingan airport.
