    This may be a dumb thread but i dont know where else to go. My mom was born in the philippines and im trying to find my relatives and she said that they would be from this country. Last name is samosa how could i find them??thanks:smile:

    The only samosa's I have seen in Dumaguete were in Persian Palate> All joking aside you should get more info and try to find out which last known barangay they resided in. You should be able to find the wherabouts from people residing there. It's no secret that there are no secrets in Dumaguete

    I know my mom isnt much help she was born in dipolog and her brothers names hwere tirso, felipi and silici and im not sure if its somosa or zamosa

    Are you sure it's not Zamora thats a more common filipino name

    Yea im pretty sure she its either somosa, samosa or zomosa lol.... I cant really help because she doesnt seem like she knows much either....everytime i enter that last name i get some kind of food dish...Ive never been to the philippines and never spoken to my relatives so yeah..:(

    Does your mom have a birth certificate? Her parents names and residence would be on it.

    She did have a birth certificate and it got burned in a fire. my grandmas last name was guran and my grandpas was samosa or zamosa and had uncle named tirso, felipi , vinacio and silici . I dont know if i will ever find them because it seems like she wont tell me too much about her past:(

    probably duran. not guran. and somosa/somoza. lots of them in the city.

    hmmm. maybe she doesn't want anything from her past. sorry to hear that.

    It is no big deal for her to apply for a new BC. If it's registered with the NSO (it would have to be if she immigrated in the last 30 years) she can get it online here;

    Your mom should have some ID, passport, etc. that has her maiden name on it. In the Philippines we use our mother's last name as our middle name, and I still do it on my kids here in the states, so basically all siblings have the same middle name.
