I would like to inquire about martial arts schools in Dumaguete. My brother in law (12 years old) would love to attend some classes in either Kung Fu, Karate, Jiu Jitsu or similar.

Taking his age into account, the classes should be putting the weight mainly on technical and physical training of body and mind and not just street fighting. Maybe I am old fashioned while having the picture of gang mentality on my mind and don't want him to get into the wrong place.

Any input (location, training hours, price etc) will be very much appreciated.

    Thanks in advance.

My children practiced Tae kwon do a few years ago. The place has moved but they are still around

Thanks for your replies. Guess we have found a place to start with. There are summer classes at the YMCA for beginners in Muay Thai.

Since you are in the Philippines, I suggest Arnis/Eskrima which is the local form of martial arts. I believe the location is shown in that thread I pointed out to you. Muy Thai is great also though.

I know there is a Muay Thai dojo somewhere in Dumaguete, I've been there once. Sorry if I dont have much info since I'm not so familiar with Dumaguete.

Actually, if i remember correctly, one of his students became the champion and also appeared in the Men's Health magazine.
