Well when we lived in San Carlos they switched power sources daily I suppose between the regular grid and the biofuel plant (which keeps the air repugnant and polluted nearly all the time). When we lived in Dumaguete two places had transformers and one did not. The one which did not burned out our ref AVR. We started to experience more brownouts but most of them were scheduled.
I only experienced an extended blackout in NYC during Superstorm Sandy for 7 days. There, Con Edison works on energized power lines daily but in the Phlippines I have not seen any crews able to do this. In San Carlos they notified us that we'd be having additional brownouts due to stringing cables along a main drag. They did not disappoint.
Based on the lack of right of way and/or ability to enforce "eminent domain" as witnessed by the recent banning of jets able to transit the airport at Sibulan due to just one recalcitrant landowner refusing to trim his trees.
On top of all these various reasons no one really appears to care. They'll just tell you that "it goes with the territory." Well that's what makes some expats vote with their feet. Now we live in a condo with a good generator and security.

Well we made it 13 days without a brownout until now, 1:47 p.m. Sunday 08/14/2016. :poop:
I guess these sunny days are hard on the electric infrastructure.
My back-up battery will last a total of about 15 minutes so I guess I am about done.

If this continues of not having brownouts for days a time, we may soon start assuming they we would actually have continuous service. This disappointment of our expectations will be when we wake up in the middle of the night without lights. It will be like when we learned there was no Santa Claus. :o o:

SUGGESTION: Sneak outside and flip the main circuit breaker, then run around the house yelling: "BROWNOUT". Do not allow your family to live in a fantasy believing in Santa Claus and no brown outs. Depression may set in when reality arrives. :o o:

11:29 a.m.. Well, we almost made it 2 days without a brownout. Looks like things are back to "normal".
Sunny , no wind, I wonder what todays excuse is ?
I hope this doesn't prematurely wear out my battery back-up.

No need for the practice brownout today as Dave & Imp suggested above.

Charlie, seems like you are experiencing more brownouts since that American moved close to you. What could he be doing to generate so much interference? Lol

Thanks for the tip Pat. Do you suppose he is flipping off my breaker by the meter ?
"One never knows, do one ?"
I'll have to set a trap and see if I catch anything.

7:10 p.m. 08/15/2016. Second brownout for today. Looks like NORECO is trying to make up for lost time. I knew that 13 days without any brownouts was too good to be true.
I wonder if my back-up battery had time to recharge since the brownout earlier today ?

My asawa is afraid of the dark. Now what do I do ? Yikes !

Hang on battery back-up, I am shutting down so it doesn't crash. Byeeeeeeeeeeeee..........................

No need to go outside an flip any breakers, as you noticed Noreco II did a good job today with brownouts themselves. Not extra help was needed.

On a slightly different note, people in boracay are getting so fed up with the brown outs up there they have set up a group and starting to make notes of any brownouts,it's not just foreigners either!
There is also a problem in Negros occidental with power issues which is being looked into also. Maybe we should start something like this down here.
