I considered this as well but I actually had a thief I wanted to catch, not discourage. Haven't had a single incident since I installed the cameras though. A few of them don't work anymore.....but I ain't sayin' which ones.

FYI: If you a paying 16k for a 4 or 8 camera system does not have IR LEDs on the cameras you are probably paying way too much. I paid 12k for my 8 camera setup and all the cameras already had an IR function. I ordered from China (Alibaba) because every single CCTV setup I found in the Philippines, both locally and online, had very sub-par specs and were charging ridiculous prices for their DVR and cameras......that had specs that were standard over a decade ago. I later found the same system I ordered from Alibaba for around 12k here in the Philippines for 22k. :meh: Even after shipping, duty, installation AND buying a completely separate DVR I still didn't spend over 22k on the system. (I needed a different type of DVR to view the cameras outside the house because Globe doesn't give static IPs and blocks the ports needed for the original DVR.)

Side note: I remember stopping in at that place across from Pasta King when I was looking for a system. I remember them trying to sell me a "system" that had 4 cameras for 12k.....it had no hard drive or DVR. The box said you needed Windows on your computer to run the software in the box. This meant that I would have to dedicate a computer and set aside at least 500GB of HD space just to be able to use that system. I don't know about everyone else but I don't have an extra (working) computer or 500GB just laying around.
I had a feeling that would be the name. This is who installed my system. I had something written out but I've decided against posting it. All I'll say is: Raffy knows what he is doing but you need watch his help while they are working and if something doesn't seem right or it looks like shortcuts are being taken speak up and demand it be done the right way (it took 4 separate visits to get mine working at a satisfactory level, likely because Raffy didn't spend much time on the job. I was paying under the table though.). In the end they got the job done and system working as it should.....I just wasn't very impressed with the amount of time it took and the amount of supervision I had to put into the install. Also, don't buy any "upgrades" to cables or shielding; it's more than likely the poor connections at the cameras/DVR or incorrectly/poorly installed video cable connectors causing the crap you are seeing on your screen. And if you need any advice with the networking/motion sensing/scheduling/video quality settings on your DVR just post a thread on the forum and I'll help ya with getting it setup (you probably won't get much of any help on the DVR software/network/setup from these guys).

Thanks Jack. Obviously your method of search is better than minewhen
Thanks Jack. Your method of search obviously produces more hits than I got before posting a new thread.
