    Thanks to everyone for the informative replies. I have decided to have my SS payment direct deposited to BPI and will keep my Work pension going to my US bank as a backup savings account and to pay my US visa debit card for online shopping.

    That seems to be a reasonable plan.

    I have always enjoyed when being asked a question like this (keep your deposits in the States or send them to the Philippines), having the ability to say "Yes" instead of picking one or the other, diversifying just like you are.

    Good plan. I never had trouble getting money from the US but I kept a couple months cushion on hand anyway. I think you are wise not to put all your eggs in one basket.
