I really don't see where this thread is going. The law is quite specific, so there is no excuse for breaking the law. If you fraudulently have a SSC and get this discount, then you will be dealt with if you are caught. Most of us are here because we can live cheaper here. How much would you need to save, compared to being fined, imprisoned or deported. This card is meant for Filipinos whom are struggling to survive. My response is stop being a Cheap Charlie and respect our host country.

Sounds like there are quite a few that feel they are above the law. Hopefully that doesn't come back to bite them in the @ss. Remember this is a public forum and anyone could be reading this thread. Admitting that you are breaking a law that could lead to your arrest, imprisonment and deportation (but not before being locked up in the expat jail to wait for your deportation hearings/appeals...which could be a death sentence for anyone old enough to get a senior citizen discount) is not the brightest thing to be doing. :meh:

Been reading this thread with growing amazement. Why in hells bells name would an expat need a Senior Citizen discount card?? I can understand why a large number of elderly locals need something like that, but an expat of 65+?? Get real!

I agree completely. There are a lot of laws here that are not enforced. Most days I actually enjoy the chaos here and "lack of rules".
On the other hand I am very aware that if for some reason the government decides to apply all the rule of law, a person could be in a big world of hurt.
I don't like pain so mostly I follow the laws as best I can.
If you like living here stay out of trouble it's not that difficult.

Perhaps the employees/managers are ignorant on the law....that doesn't justify you taking advantage of that ignorance.

Just to make this perfectly clear:

    Republic Act No. 9994

    First:
    Which you are not.....:
You are not a Filipino citizen and by you taking these benefits you are taking away from those that need it most. Let's not encourage others do engage in illegal behavior.

If you are a Foreigner you can't. Sorry but It is illegal for a Foreigner to obtain, apply and importantly try and use a Filipino Senior Citizen Card. If you are offered one or lay your hands on one it will be Hooky,:whistling: Penalties are quite Severe.:pompus:
If you are a National, you can apply on your NSO Birth certificate.

    JP:thumbsup:

You need to be a Filipino citizen to get this card whatever anyone tells you! There are a few that have them I know of but highly illegal.

Entitled or not, why break a law that could land you in one of the worst slammers in the world?

According to my passport, I must obey the law of the land where I landed...

There is always going to be those 'cheap' foreigners (mostly older retirees) that will try every which way to save a couple of pesos over here in the PI.

Get over it ... most things are cheap enough here that you certainly don't need to pursue illegal means just to save a few extra pesos.

If the Philippines is still too expensive for you to live in ... I might suggest Somalia next.
