I know a guy that has one he got it in Tanjay he told me it was up to the mayor of the town , it saves him lots every month.
Well personally I feel a little grief may come his way at some stage. Mayors can't just go around changing a Government Republican Act to suit his pocket and that is most surely what has Happened. Buying things on the Hookey is why this place is like it is. Alex, next time you see him ask him if you will, what colour his Purchase book is Please. JMHO but................ JP
You cannot get a SCC, unless you are a Senior Filipino Citizen. If you are caught you can get a hefty fine, imprisonment and deportation. Any expat whom has one, has got it through a mayor illegally, ignorance will not save you. Read Sec7, this leaves no doubt. Republic Act No. 9994 | Official Gazette of the Republic of the Philippines
Sounds like there are quite a few that feel they are above the law. Hopefully that doesn't come back to bite them in the @ss. Remember this is a public forum and anyone could be reading this thread. Admitting that you are breaking a law that could lead to your arrest, imprisonment and deportation (but not before being locked up in the expat jail to wait for your deportation hearings/appeals...which could be a death sentence for anyone old enough to get a senior citizen discount) is not the brightest thing to be doing.
Well since I am now living here in the Philippines with my 13-A visa my wife and I decided to inquire if I can possibly avail this SCC.so the office told me ACR card is not sufficient have to have a Phil Passport or dual citizen to get one. I posted it here to get more information about it,i have doubts because the staff i was talking to in the SCC office had to call the boss on the phone and get back to me after talking to the boss. All is good now and again thank you everyone for the useful information.
I wonder why the traders let them use their SSC , like every other law here no one knows it.this guy i know uses it for everything food, chemist, doctor, even bus tickets.
Greed, Alex Greed, even at 20% discount they still got his Money. Then when caught it will be a shrug of the shoulders and denial of the facts OH! He had a card so we thought it was OK. JP
Nothing ignorant in showing elderly courtesy even if not mandated by law. Can never be illegal to accept that. But, it would be illegal to demand it. [DOUBLEPOST=1442404314,1442404213][/DOUBLEPOST]Btw, the senior citizen discount only applies to the senior citizen. One can't invite their family for a dinner and have grandpa pay and get a 20% discount. As for restaurants, the margins isn't that high. Getting 20% discount will eliminate the profit of the customer.
Been reading this thread with growing amazement. Why in hells bells name would an expat need a Senior Citizen discount card?? I can understand why a large number of elderly locals need something like that, but an expat of 65+?? Get real!
