"Going Steady" via internet , then decide to meet personally ?? How much "load" ,emergency cash and other bullshit help did he give before they met?? We are talking 5K USD here, be thankful you did not lose everything. Walk away and try and meet the old fashioned way.. In person.

 

In my 33 years in the Philippines I met hundreds of foreigners
married with Filippino woman but only encountered two foreign woman having a relation with a Philippino.
An American woman living together and an Australian one married.
I wonder why. Are those women so smart or the men so stupid?

 

I have found from local experience here that wondering if the house ever built is way too far down the assumption trail of questions and quires. You can assume that there was land purchased or owned, but really you have to start with the first question which is "was she a "she", (I don't know if even when you go steady on the internet you get certification on that issue). People have been charged with murder who have not clarified that issue early on in the evening... ...

 

The way that I read the article the guy not only had his money and valuables stolen he also paid for a house to be built for her in her province. I did not see a value attached to that.

 

I think it was a case of the wrong head in action .

 

Its cheaper that way than finding out months or years into the pseudo-relationship. I think he should have trusted her with less money though, trust must be earned, not given on a dating site.

EDIT: I googled for a news source and cannot find anything other than a blog link so I am starting to wonder what really happened.

MALATE, Manila – An American national sought the assistance of the police after his fiance’ ran away with his money and valuables.

65-year-old Don Austin Peach of University Tower, in Malate, told police he lost a total of 150,000 pesos cash and some 46,000 pesos in valuable to his fiance’.

The Pinay fiance’, 32-year-old Anne Marie Estrada, of Cagayan de Oro City, made him buy a lot of things for her and he even had a house built for her in her province, said Peach.

Peach told police he met his fiance’ in August of 2015 through the dating website Asiadating.com.

The two are said to have been going steady in 2015 – but then decided to meet personally – meeting in a coffee shop at the Robinson’s Mall in Ermita.

The American national told police that he was flying back and forth in the country, but suddenly got the surprise of his life when his fiance’ suddenly left him, taking his money and valuables.

A formal complaint was filed in the office of the local police, until an investigation into the matter takes place.
