I want to move from Tagbilaran to dumaguette. i have my own furniture and electronics all very new. i contacted ocean jet and lite shipping, they both say they do not ship to dumaguette. I find this hard to believe and confusing. So many expats live there, and surely they have had things sent from their countries, as well as others parts of the phils. A real estate agent in dumaguette told me to just get a broker to do it.. here the brokers are real estate agents, and they do not ship furnishings for you. I spent a lot of money on these items, and there are not many expats here, just passing through type mainly , and the locals do not have the money to buy nice expensive electronics and furniture. I have grown to hate this run down, unkept city with is bad roads full of holes and the crazy trike drivers, and twice the amount of trikes needed, further making traffic and travel hard here. And after my visit to dumaguette, as well as other areas of the phils, i realize i am living in the slum pits of the phils, so sad, because bohol and panglo island are beautiful, but the gateway to them, Tagbilaran, is run down and not maintained. Any suggestions appreciated. thanks
Just an idea, not sure if this is a solution but you could try contacting 2Go in Dumaguete and ask if they have a solution. Maybe one of their ships from Manila goes to Bohol before coming here and after unloading there they would have a little room. Good luck.
Contact Martin Matiao Transport, 63 35 422 3230 or through their website: Martin Matiao Transport Services, Inc. . They ship and pick-up throughout the Visayas and surely will transport your furniture but it might be expensive since the only way here by RORO ferry is through Argao, Cebu.
Several shipping companies pass trough Tagbilatan as well as Dumaguete. Even it has to pass Cebu, it is possible, try Cokaliong. A list: Shipping & Ferry Services - Philippine Shipping Organization list, Philippines Travel and Tourism Information, Travel Bag, Virtual Philippines | Virtual Asia
Unfortunately, the only company that goes from Tagbilaran to Dumaguete is Oceanjet, and they don't do furniture. Steve recommended Matiao, and that may be as good as it gets. How much stuff are we talking, will it fit in a full size pickup? Larry
