I had the same idea. The port in Cebu would be the best bet.

I cant get the link to load. Search Google and enter: paint used on shipping containers Click on ourpastimes.com link.

    The Best Paint

The best paints for shipping steel containers are acrylic-based paints with an added zinc phosphate and a nonchlorinated plasticized mixture. Rustproof urethane enamel makes another good paint option for steel containers. These provide both an attractive appearance and durability, ensuring the strength and integrity of the metal by keeping it free from rust -- an important element due to the damaging elements a shipping container receives.

Paints for Shipping Containers Used as Housing

Use a ceramic paint that also also acts as an insulator and adhesive when using containers as a home. Ceramic paint is fireproof and helps insulate sound. These characteristics allow the container to function as a home suited for various weather conditions.

yeah but its only at sea for weeks or months at most at a time. What if you decide to settle down in one for many years. Thats where I see a possibility probably coming in. I got more usable feedback from Jeff08xx about what type of acrylic type paint with zinc to use in humid environments.. thanks though for your attempt at a humurous comment. At least someone found it funny.

I'm a Painter by trade, use red oxide primer, I wouldn't use zink that's for galvanized metals. Then I would use epoxy paints for a lasting finish.

Agreed zinc oxide is for Galvanized... as far as containers go you might want to check out the 2 story tall bakery in Banilad (across from Octagon and E GAMES). They made a cool bakery there 2 years ago out of several containers and it still looks great . They are open 24/7 so no probs going to have a peek. They are 20 footers if my memory still works...

There is a place fabricating shipping containers for offices / homes not far from where I stay in lower Camanjac it's in Tacloban? I stopped there today and got a quote. 80k for the 20ft container but not sure what the fab cost was.
