Here in the USA and planning trip to pilippines again, this time with more of my stuff..My music gear does not fit checked baggage specs so i go to cargo dept.Cargo says that even though I am flying thier airlines,if I want thier cargo service I must go to any shipping company other than that airline and have that company charge me to have that company then go to the airline i fly to service my cargo....I went to shippers and frieght forwarders and my size and wieght specs are to small for many shippers and too large for baggage(even under excess baggage)..One shipper said he can help me but he never did get back...Out of options here so i thought i ask here before time comes to travel in november to pilippines... without cargo will be no fun..

I am using an extra large balikbayan box for my gear. I will be sending in August but I will not be in the PH till November. The Gear should arrive about the same time.

That will be much cheaper Tom but you must have really Large boxes unless you are taking the necks down, something I have not learned to do yet but when the time comes will certainly consider.

I was able to get what they called a wardrobe box that was big enough to put 4 guitars 3 in hard cases and a tenor sax as well as a small midi keyboard. of course all the empty space around everything is filled with clothes, shoes, toys, stuffed animals etc.

the box was about 8" too short to put my 88 key midi controller in. O well I will have to buy a new one when we get there.

I just hope it all arrives safely.

My problem piece is 88 key synth wieghted in a heavy duty touring hard case with wheels ..Its set to travel safe from bumps nicks and low drops but it is 64 inches long in the case..64 inches long by 22 inches wide and 9 inches deep...I will hound the local balikbayan people here who are all pilippinos..I shipped a generator that way but was told they had maximum dimension limit that my synth board crossed...I will go to all the other balikbayan companies and search. I am working now to save money in case I stuck with fed ex frieght at well over $1000 for the 120 pound piece..They dont sell my gear in pilippines,i checked so I will do what i gotta do even if over doing by fed ex is what it takes..Thanks guys I had given up on balikbayan but I will try again...
