Ok, Gabbys is a B&B low cost short term accom, not sure about the dog, but they do have a garden area which could be possible. Heading North out of Town, turn left at the first SHELL, on the left hand side of the highway, servo you come to, and Gabbys is on the left hand side about 100 meters along. Accom, is good and the resto is also good, they have all day breakfast. The room rates are under 1000PHP, or were. If your lady hails a trike, I am sure the driver will know where it is.

Thank you everyone for the very helpful advice. I contacted all the establishments above and have booked my GF into Villa Prescilla. Anders was particularly helpful and provided a ground floor unit with a door onto the garden which is perfect for accommodating the requirements of the dog. He went out of his way to help us out and could not have been more accommodating. My GF is much more relaxed knowing that when she gets off the ferry she has a place to go that will accept the dog.

I had a friend who I believe stayed at Villa Prescilla with a puppy and it was not a problem. I am not positive that was the place... but if you continue to have problems locating a place I will contact him and see if he can tell me the name of the place. (sent him a text message now). Villa Prescilla has a pool and is big enough that there should be a room available.

Thanks very much for the incredibly kind offer Alex. As she is going to be very stressed with kids, belongings and then the dog (who will probably be unloaded after everyone else has disembarked) I will say No. She can take her time and when ready get some trikes to bring them all to Villa Prescilla. But really your kindness is incredibly welcoming.

Thanks Dave. I have had a number of e-mail exchanges with Anders at Villa Prescilla and he is happy to have the dog as long as the dog is kept under control and always someone cleans up after her. As I said he has been very accommodating in offering a unit which fits all the requirements. I will give you her review after she has stayed there - but his service during this booking time has been fantastic and I can only imagine from that, that this place will be the perfect start for her. She is from Manila, doesn't speak Bisaya and has been to Dumaguete once only with me - so this will be almost as much of an adventure for her as it will be for me, finding longer term accommodation, enrolling in schools, finding a helper and starting her life in Dumaguete. What has been amazing is that from her own, and surrounding Barangays where she lives, she now knows of dozens of family and friends of her neighbors who live in Dumaguete - so her support network is already quite large and sometimes overwhelming. She is hoping to take up residence close to her chosen elementary school, St Paul's and then when I arrive and get a car we will be looking to move to Valencia.

But with the welcoming we have already had all around - we are both very excited to join your community.

An update on Villa Prescilla. My GF has been extremely happy with everything. The accomodation, the pool but particularly the staff. She tells me of the caretaker who has been so helpful even to the point to introduce her to a friend (who had previously stayed at Villa Prescilla and then moved on) who is in a similar position (with dog, family and foreigner partner) as my GF. Already her support network is growing, notwithstanding she doesnt speak Cebuano all are happy to help her in Tagalog.
As to the dog, there has been no problems at all with the staff who at first were a little scared (because it is a black labrador {read bigger dog}) but now become a popular item - she says that most of the foreigner guests stop to give the dog a pat. Overall a great place for her to find her feet whilst she tackles the big decisions around starting her new life in Dumaguete (schools and more permanent accomodation). So at this point Villa Prescilla is Highly Recommended.
